McLeod, McPhail, Bradley, Wright and Leslie Big Winners at Orlando SpeedWorld

Bithlo, Fla (April 4, 2003) - It was overflowing pits Friday night at Orlando SpeedWorld as the FASTRUCKS and Legends joined in with the regular divisions for a warm, spring night of some great short track racing.
FASTRUCKS saw a 20 truck field for the 50 lap event. Tim Shaffnier sat on the pole and lead from green to checkers. Only one lap was down when Billy Barstow brought out the yellow flag as he spun in turns 3 and 4.
On the restart, Shaffnier jumps to the lead followed by Al Neuman, Paul Grynewicz III, Bobby Owens, and James Wright III. On lap 6, Barstow slides again in turns 3 and 4 down on the Bandolero track but keeps on truckin.
Tommy King and George Gorham brought out the yellow again as they tangle in turns 1 and 2. On the restart, it is evident that Jimmy Gill is on a run to the front as he goes side-by-side with Marty Wolf for the sixth place spot. Wolf fights hard but Gill finally gets a run and takes the spot.
Lap 11 Carl Green spins but is able to correct the truck and does not bring out the yellow Shaffnier still holds the point followed by Newman, Grynewicz III, Owens, Wright, Gill and Wolf.
Ronald Davis spun at the bottom of turns 1 and 2 bringing out the caution for the third time and now the clock is counting caution laps. The race restarts on lap 20.
Lap 29, King and Gorham are going at each other again. Gorham spins after he and King slightly touch. Both trucks are sent to the rear of the field. The race restarts on lap 25 but only 3 laps later, Bill Stacy brought out the yellow has he spun at the top of turns 3 and 4.
After running a good solid third for most of the race, Paul Grynewicz III brought out the caution as he broke.at the top of turns 1 and 2. This will change the leaders to Shaffnier, Newman, Owens, Wright and Gill in the top five.
Lap 35, Barstow agains decides he likes the Bandolero track as he slides down onto the surface but is able to continue and not bring out the caution. Last week's winner of the New Smyrna Speedway race, Paul Grynewicz, squeezes Marty Wolf for the sixth place spot sending Wolf back one to seventh.
Lap 44, Grynewica and Gill are going hard at it for the fifth place spot. Grynewicz holds strong and Gill slips back as the fight ends.
Shaffnier takes the checkers followed by Al Newman, Bobby Owens, James Wright III, and Paul Grynewicz.
Sean Bass sat on the pole for the strange Mini Stock feature for the night. Bass, who had mechanical problems during hot laps, jumped to the lead but smoke began streaming from his car and he had to retire to the inside pits with Keith Roggen taking the point followed by Tim "Missileman" McPhail, Chad Carpenter, Pedie Allison, and R.J. Arnone.
Lap 8, McPhail and Roggen are side-by-side for the lead with McPhail taking the point. On lap 9, Allison is moving for third going side-by-side with Carpenter when Carpenter moves up and forces Allison slightly into the frontstretch wall. Allison continues but on the next lap, his tire blows and sends him into the turn four wall. Allison is fine but his car is down for the night.
Allison is not happy and points at Carpenter as he goes by on the caution lap. Allison shows his unhappiness with Carpenter as he walks away from his car and goes into the pits.
The race restarts with McPhail in the lead but a hard charging Roggen challenging McPhail once again. As McPhail and Roggen come off turn 4 down the frontstretch, they lock up. They are able to shake loose but over in turns 3 and 4, the rest of the field is now locked up, R.J. Arnone, Chad Carpenter, and Randy Blakeslee.
Arnone gets out of his car and goes to Carpenter's car, hitting Carpenter as he is still belted into his car. The Sheriffs come onto the track and pull the drivers apart as the race is called on lap 11 with Tim "Missileman" McPhail the winner as the race goes back to the previous lap before the yellow was thrown.
Carpenter and Arnone are both disqualified with no points and no money for the night. The top five were Tim "Missileman" McPhail, Keith Roggen, Randy Blakeslee, Pedie Allison, and Kevin Wiliams.
Twenty seven legends took the green for their 25 lap feature with James Rodriquez on the pole. Joseph Flanagan quickly jumped to the point on the green but on lap 1, the race was red flagged as Tim Bagnall came off turn 1 and going into turn 2 hit the wall hard sending his car flying. Bagnall was shaken but okay. His car was mainly toast.
On the restart, it was Flanagan, Jordan Richardson, Patrick Conrad and Kevin O'Brien in the lead. But on lap 5, Richardson and Conrad touch spining out and being sent to the rear of the field. Flanagan holds the point on the restart but O'Brian gets a run and is able to take over the point.
On lap 13, the caution comes out again for a spin on the frontstretch. On the restart, Jason Reisman takes over the point followed by Jeff Johnson.
Craig Montgomery spins at the bottom of turns 1 and 2 on lap 15 brining out the yellow once again on lap 15. On the restart it is Reisman, Johnson, Ray Sasser, O'Brien, and Flanagan. One lap later, lap 16, Johnson brought out the yellow as he touches the turns 1 and 2 wall.
On the restart, Reisman holds the point followed by Sasser, O'Brien, Flanagan, and Conrad who had come back up the field from the rear. Conrad moves into the fourth position putting Flanagan fifth and Richardson has now moved into seventh from the rear of the field.
By lap 19, Conrad moved to third setting his sights on the second place spot being held by Sasser. On lap 23, as Conrad and Sasser are fighting for that second place spot, Sasser hits the frontstretch wall, climbs the wall, and flips going down the frontstretch. The race is red flagged. Sasser, who is fine but shaken, climbs out of the car to the roar of the crowd. The car is righted and towed into the pits.
On the restart, Reisman finds his hands full with Conrad closing in for first. Conrad is able to make the move and make it stick taking the checkers followed by Jason Reisman, Kevin O'Brien, Joseph Flanagan, and Jordan Richardson.
Patrick Conrad and Bruce Sasser took the heat race wins.
Chad Pierce had the pole for the Super Late Model 25 lap event and jumped to the lead on the green. But on lap 1, Scott McKenley brought out the yellow as he spun at the bottom of turn 3. The race restarts wtih Pierce, B.J. McLeod, Rusty Ebersole, Ronnie Roach and John Daziel in the top five.
But before the cars could get up to full speed, the yellow comes out again for Giy Wendell who spun on the frontstrech. The race finally gets a lap down as Pierce finds his hands full with B.J. McLeod who is looking for that number one spot. McLeod is able to make his car stick and takes over the number one spot. But on lap 4, the yellow comes out again as Rick Ruckin spins on the frontstretch.
On the restart, it is McLeod, Roach, Pierce, Ebersole, and Daziel. By lap 7, Jared Allison has taken over fifth putting Daziel sixth. On lap 10, Pierce slows with a blown motor after running a solid third. Pierce retires to the pits.
Lap 15, Ruckin spins at the bottom of turn 4 as Ronnie Roach spins at the bottom of turn 2 after hitting oil on the track. Roach is given back his spot as it was Ruckin who brought out the yellow. On the restart, it iw McLeod, Roach, Ebersole, Allison and Daziel.
Lap 20, Allison and Daziel are fighting hard as they touch sending Allison into a spin at the bottom of turn 4. Both cars are sent to the rear and the race goes green.
McLeod holds the point and takes the checkers for his first win of the 2003 season at Orlando SpeedWorld. Following McLeod to the checkers was Ronnie Roach, Rusty Ebersole, James Matthews, and Jared Allison.
Sam Watts lead from green to checkers in the Young Gun Bandolero feature. On the start, it was Watts, Troy Atkins, Brandon Thompson, Kevin Henry, and Jessica Murphy.
Dalton Zehr and Scott Jarrett get together in turns 4 on lap 3 but no yellow comes out as they get going again and on lap 5, Jessica Murphy spun in turns 3 and 4 but also was able to get her car back on the track.
Watts holds the point and takes the checkers followed by Kevin Henery, Troy Atkins, Dalton Zehr, and Brandon Thompson.]]

Matt Bowers lead green to checkers in the Bandits Bandolero division. On lap 11, Jason Williams who was running fifth broke. Bowers took the checkers followed by Derrick Wood, Chad Atkins, Matthew Jarrett and Ryan Rust.

Mike Soukup sat on the pole for the 15 lap Super Stock feature and quickly took the lead on the green followed by Jeff Wright, Cory Freed, Larry McCormick, amd Mike Amato.
On lap 3, a massive pile-up on the frontstretch involving Amato, Bob Wines, Justin Reynolds, and Ron Whaley. All the cars were able to continue except for Amato who was leaking fluid and retired to the pits.
On the restart, Soukup holds the point but Wright puts the pressure on and is able to take over the lead with Soukup sliding back to fourth. On lap 7, Justin Reynolds spins coming down the frontstretch to bring out the yellow.
On the restart, it is Wright, Freed, McCormick, Whaley and Ted Head. McCormick slips back as Ron Whaley takes over second with Freed slipping back to ninth. Wright takes the checkered for his first win in the 2003 season followed by Ron Whaley, Ted Head, Bob Wines, and Billy Cuddy.
Glen Bradley had the pole for the Open Wheel Modified 15 lap event and quickly took the point on the green. Charlie Pitts brought out the yellow as his car began to smoke badly and brought out the yellow before a lap was down and the race was totally restarted.
On the restart, Terri Bryant and Chris Gillespie spin on the backstretch bringing out the yellow again and another restart.
On the third restart, Matthew Wheeler takes the point over Bradley, Jared Allison, Shane Held, and Frank Polly. Polly moves on Held and takes fourth putting Held fifth.
On lap 2, Polly hits the turns 3-4 wall and brings out the yellow again. Polly is fine but the car is done for the night. On the restart, Wheeler holds the point followed by Jared Allison, Glen Bradley, Jon Compagnone, and Chad Pierce.
Lap 10, Compagnone moved to third with Pierce following to fourth putting Bradley fifth. Lap 14, Matthew Wheeler and Jared Allison are fighting for the lead. They touch slightly with Wheeler spinning on the backstretch. Both Allison and Wheeler are put to the rear on the restart.
On the restart, Compagnone is now the new leader followed by Pierce, Bradley,and Held. Compagnone and Pierce get together fighting for the win and Compagnone spins ending his run for the win.
Bradley, the pole sitter, inherits the lead and the win followed by Shane Held, Dave Riley, Terri Bryant and Matthew Wheeler.
Jim Leslie lead the Strictly Stock feature from green to checkered. With no cautions, this was a dog fight to the end. New driver Richie Laszlo did a good job after spinning and going right back to racing without causing the yellow to come out. Following Leslie to the checkered was Roger Benton, Frank Costantino, Ralph Jones and Richie Laszlo.
Next week at Orlando SpeedWorld, April 11, the TBARA Winged Sprints with Antique Cars plus all FASCAR divisions except for Super Late Models who will run on Saturday at USA International in a Sunbelt Super Late Model race.
