Columbia Pure Stock Win goes to Davis

LAKE CITY, Fla. - Veteran Eddie Gainey padded his already sizeable point lead in the late models stocks as he won his 11th main this season Saturday night at Columbia Motorsports Park. Gainey grabbed the lead on lap three and sped to the win in the 25 lap headliner with an easy run over Jeff Prescott, Sam Clark, Eric Williams and Fain Skinner.

Nasty Nick Reid had to borrow a car for the night but that was no problem as he blasted past Swain Norris on lap nine and went on to the win in the 20 lap street stock finale. Norris kept digging to claim runner-up money over points leader Charles Seroki, Brad Fiene and Gale Grayer.

A short field saw the Florida modifieds run a 12 lap dash for cash with Greg Slone the victor ahead of Mike Bennett and Rick McManaway.

L.H. Davis scored a wire to wire run for the win in the 20 lap pure stock feature. Point leader William Jerkins checkered second over Clay McRae, Nevin Gainey and Matt Stafford.

The visiting Classic Race Cars 20 lap feature was captured by Jim Rahman who got the lead on lap five from Clinton Mears. Eddie Thornton, Ed Yates, Danny Shearer and Dan Hammerbeck rounded out the top five finishers. - 30 -
