Outlaw Modifieds @ Charlotte | Christy Boyett of Punta Gorda sat on the pole for the first heat in the Outlaw Modified division in the #94 car. By lap four of this eight lap race, sixteen year old Boyett had given herself quite a lead over the rest of the pack. Boyett stayed out front for the win followed by #14 John Etmanczyk of Big Pine Key in second, and #25 Kelly Curl of Homestead in third. Heat two got underway with #21 Duane Gilfus of Loxahatchee on the pole. This heat was a little closer for the top five cars. #21 Gilfus held on for the win, but had to race hard on the last three laps to keep #67 C. J. Haycraft of Miramar from taking over the spot. #67 Haycraft came in second followed by #27 Mike Franklin Sr. of Homestead in third.
The first heat of the Kix Country 92.9 Sportsman division had #35 Calvin Fillingame of Alva on the pole. #23 Butch Murray of N. Ft. Myers had to pit on lap three when the car began smoking. #35 Fillingame stayed out in front for all six laps for the win. #40 Jeremy Goddard of Naples came in second after starting in the back of the pack and #74 Dan Benoit also made it up from the back to take third. The second heat started with #E38 Ralph Goddard of Naples on the pole of their six lap race. Lap four saw #8 Raymond Jones of Arcadia take the lead and hold it for the win. #E38 Goddard held on for second, followed by #19 Kenny Eaton of Lehigh Acres in third.
The #08 car sat on the pole of the Hendry's Mango Maniacs Cowboy Cadillacs eight lap heat race with Eddie Allen of Alva at the wheel. On lap two, #73 Richard Martin Jr. was sent to the rear after getting into the side of #24 Justin Bryant of Arcadia. #08 Allen held the lead on the restart while #33 Don Van Acker of Punta Gorda tried to keep #37 Cheryl Weaver of Port Charlotte from taking second. Weaver made her way to the front for the win followed by #33 Van Acker in second, and #24 Bryant in third. Heat one of the Big Wheels Mini Stocks began their six lap race with #7 Hank Fielder of Punta Gorda on the pole. #1 John Trotta of Cape Coral soon took over the top spot and held on to it for the win. #16 Chase Goodson of West Palm Beach came up from the back to take second, and #31 Harlan Wilson of Arcadia took third.
#5 Glenn Travis of N. Ft. Myers sat on the pole for the second heat. #56 Bryan Richardson of N. Ft. Myers moved up quickly from the back of the pack to take the lead by lap three and #94 Keith Risinger of Ft. Myers moved into second, and that's where they stayed until the checkered flag flew. #2 Roger Garrett of N. Ft. Myers took third.
The first of two heats of the Lee's Auto Detail & Transmission Pure Stocks division got underway with #11 Doug Spitzer of Cape Coral on the pole. On lap four, #38 Joe Reese of Bonita Springs took over the lead and held it for the win. #6 Kevin Utter of Ft. Myers moved up from the back to take second and #18J Ray Jayne of Punta Gorda came in third. #71 Scott Moran of Port Charlotte sat on the pole for heat two. #91X John Plakiotis of Port Charlotte moved up into second place and had to fight hard to keep #31X Elbert Butts of Nocatee, who had moved up from the back, from taking the spot. Moran took the win followed by Plakiotis in second and Butts in third.
The Shirley's Bookkeeping Rebel Road Warriors heats got underway with #3B John Boyer of Cape Coral on the pole. #36 Steven Schroeder of Ft. Myers spun around in turn four on lap three bringing out a caution, but still managed to end the race in third. #3B Boyer took the win followed by #74 Chuck Stevens of Ft. Myers in second. #77 Dennis Hale of Punta Gorda sat on the pole for the second heat, but #88 Wayne Wilson of Ft. Myers jumped out in front on the drop of the green flag and stayed there for the rest of the race to take the win. #55 Conrad Molter of Naples moved up to take second and #9S Taz Sidock of Cape Coral took third.
#44 Raymond Tucker Jr. of Ft. Myers sat on the pole of the Hendry's Mango Maniacs Cowboy Cadillacs twenty lap feature. Lap two saw the #33 of Don Van Acker jump out in front with #37 Cheryl Weaver following right on his bumper. Weaver took the lead on lap five and held it for the win, while Van Acker held second. #2 Gene Pack Jr. of Grove City did a little slipping and sliding on lap eight trying to keep #24 Justin Bryant back, but to no avail. Bryant made his way around Pack to take third and hold it.
The twenty lap feature of the Big Wheel Mini Stocks got underway with #7 Hank Fielder on the pole. #51 Rick Nastan of Sarasota took off on the first lap for the early lead after starting in eighth position. Lap five saw the #31 car of Harlan Wilson get spun around by #94 Keith Risinger bringing out a caution. Risinger was sent to the rear, but steadily moved up the line. #56 Brian Richardson made his way up from tenth starting position to take over the lead on lap nine. Richardson held on to take the checkered flag followed by #51 Nastan in second, and #1 John Trotta in third. Trotta was disqualified in tech for being too light, leaving #94 Risinger in the official third place spot.
#94 Christy Boyett sat on the pole for the twenty five lap Outlaw Modifieds twenty one car feature. The caution came out for the first time when there was a multi-car pile up in turn one of lap ten. #23 Rick McElroy of Port Charlotte hit the wall pretty hard and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. On the restart, #10 Bobby McElroy of Wellington took over the lead after starting in the middle of the pack. #55 Lance Hoverson of Key West got sent to the rear on lap twenty two after bumping #25 Kelly Curl, bringing out a caution and bunching up the pack for the last few laps. #27 Mike Franklin Sr. spun on his own in turn one, then got T-boned when #14 John Etmanczyk had no way to get around him. Franklin ended up with a flat tire and had to be hauled in by Prompt Towing. #10 McElroy held on to take the win followed by #5 Ted Hoverson who had made his way up from the middle of the pack to take second, and #94 Boyett held on to third.
The Kix Country 92.9 Sportsman thirty five lap feature began with #35 Calvin Fillingame on the pole. After a try at some four wide racing on the first green flag, the field was restarted. It was one caution after another for the first few laps for these sixteen cars, but not much damage was done. #67 James DuBose of Arcadia suffered a flat tire and had to pit but made it back out for a restart. #35 Fillingame had some rear end damage and had to pit to have his bumper taken off, but he was also able to continue the race. After the crashing stopped and the racing began, #19 Kenny Eaton of Lehigh Acres took the lead on lap ten only to end up in the pits on lap twenty for the rest of the night. #22 Danny Yates of Cape Coral took over the top spot and held on for the win followed by #E38 Ralph Goddard in second and #74 Dan Benoit in third. Benoit was later disqualified in tech for valve springs, leaving #94 Chuck Wolf of Naples in the official third place position.
#11 Doug Spitzer sat on the pole of the Lee's Auto Detail & Transmission Pure Stocks twenty five lap feature. Lap seven saw the #38 with Joe Reese behind the wheel take over the lead and #6 Kevin Utter of Ft. Myers moved into second. The caution came out on lap nine when #99 Mark Collins of Cape Coral spun around in turn two. #18J Ray Jayne scrubbed the wall on lap twelve and pitted to get checked out, but was able to return to the race. For the last fifteen laps of the race, #6 Utter gave #38 Reese a good run as he tried to take the lead from him. In the end, Reese stayed out in front for the win with Utter taking second and #11 Spitzer in third.
The Shirley's Bookkeeping Rebel Road Warriors twenty lap feature got started with #3B John Boyer sitting in the pole position. It was green flag racing for the first five laps before #36 Steve Schroeder began leaking fluid. Schroeder had to pit for the night and the all-volunteer broom crew came out to clean up the mess. #88 Wayne Wilson took over the lead on lap six while #9S Taz Sidock was trying to take over second. On lap eleven, Sidock hit the wall coming out of turn two and stayed on it all the way down the backstretch. With such heavy damage to the car, it took two wreckers to get the #9S to the pits, where it stayed for the rest of the night. Sidock was uninjured. # 88 Wilson held on for the win with #3B Boyer taking second and #55 Conrad Molter in third. It was one of the best nights of racing we have seen this season.
