Kruse Dominate in Mini as Manucy Takes Hobby

At St. Augustine Speedway Saturday night was the beginning of the points season. Troy Kruse showed his domination in the Mini Stocks by coming from his third row starting to take the Lead on lap nine of the 20 lapfeature. Last years champion Jay Farris held the led for the first nine laps. Farris had to settle for second followed by Mickey Leth, Vern Rozier and Colt Taylor. Steve Thompson was flagged as fifth but was DQed after it was discovered the team had switch drivers from Heat Race to the Feature.

Chris Manucy continued to be the class of the Hobby Stock. Manucy, last years champion, used his outside pole position to get the lead and never looked back. Jody Stratton gave it a valiant effort but came up short when his car broke. Trying to chase down Manucy was Shea Clay in second, Randy Wilkes third, fourth was Bucky York and rounding out the top fivewas Bobby Jones.

A newcomer to St. Augustine Speedway J.F. McClellan Showed the Modies the way around the track. McClellan hold off a hard charging Larry OSteen to take the win. After OSteen was another newcomer Derek Crawford, Jamie Carter got fourth and fifth was another newcomer Shannon Smith.

Larry OSteen picked up the win in Late Models. Last years Champion Donnie Oden was second followed by Richard Ferry, Doyle Boatwright, and Jay Middleton. Late Models and Sportsman ran together with Jason Garver getting the trophy for the Sportsman.

Thunder Trucks Ricky Cooper is a force to be reckonwith. Taking his third win of the season Cooper seems to have his new truck dialed in for St. Augustine. Chasing Cooper was Robert Gorman, Jared Cooper and Terry Wright.
