Morales Notches Hialeah Cyclone Win | by Marty Little HIALEAH, Fla. - Quickly getting comfortable on the track after a layoff of nearly two years, Nick Staropoli scored his second win in three weeks as he led wire to wire to claim the win in the 50 lap late model sportsman headliner Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway. Starting from the pole in the 14 car field, Staropoli quickly hustled to the lead and was never seriously challenged throughout the half century run. Charlie Coyle was the best of the rest and checkerd second over a pressuring Joe Winchell, point leader Danny Maddox and David Weaver.
Gary Padula notched a convincing win in the 25 lap street stock run as he took the point from Bob Hogan on lap six and simply drove away from the field. A steady Hogan claimed second money over Michael Kohut, Mike Orth and Corey Crisafulli.
In mini stock action it was point leader David Russell once again as he hustled to his fifth win of the season. Bill Miner was a distant second at the line over Tommy Styer, Tommy Dittmer and Richard Thomas in the 25 lap event.
Cyclone hot shoe George Morales scored his initial win of the season with an easy run over the 21 car field. Roger Bohannon came from deep in the field for runner-up honors ahead of Bruce Moerlins, Heather Lunsford and Frank Kelliher.
The visiting Dwarf Cars fell to the onslaught on Micheal Fortin as he blasted to the lead on a lap eight restart and never looked back, easily outdistancing the field in the 25 lap run. Alan Cote, early leader Mark Landis, Dennis Diehl and Brian Paradis followed at the line. Lance Hoverson proved the best of the topless Outlaw Modifieds as he got by Kelly Curl on lap four and drove to a comfortable win over his father, Ted Hoverson. John Gilbert, rookie C.J.
