MILEY, STALNAKER, AND BENNETT WIN AT BRONSON | By Gil Peck
Corkey Miley set the stage Saturday night as he pulled out to an impressive lead and won the Pure Stock feature Saturday night at the Bronson Bullring. Gerry Hodge, in his first appearance of the year, had his Custom Vinyl Graphics Buick hooked up and was second, while Mickey Burns of Hernando finished third.
The Super Stock ground-pounding machines thundered on to the bullring and put on quite a show for the night's big race. At one point, Len Owens and Doc Batson mounted a 6-lap, side-by-side duel for position. The cars had little or no daylight between them and both drivers put on a textbook clinic of racing skills. GREAT STUFF to watch.
Wesley Keller, driving the #34 A+ Air Conditioning/Verns Garage Camaro was running strong and finished second to Jeff Bennett. Al Bouchard had the #14 FTW/Cornerstones Kitchens machine in peak form and finished third. "It's great, racing like this!" said Al, after the race. "Side-by-side and hard, clean, driving. Tonight was FUN!" he said.
