Miller Tops TBARA Sprints at Columbia

LAKE CITY, Fla. - Another of the new faces on the Florida sprint car scene rose to the top Saturday night as Shane Miller paced the 25 lap TBARA feature event wire to wire at Columbia Motorsports Park.

Starting on the front row, Miller quickly put his winged mount at the point to pace the 18 car field around the banked half-mile oval. Former series champion Jim Childers kept the pressure on Miller but to no avail and settled for runner-up money. Wayne Reutimann, Jr., back from a summer of driving dirt modifieds in the Northeast, checkered third over brothers Kevin Butler and Shane Butler. Heat race wins went to Kevin Cahill, Childers and Doug Heveron.

Richard Ferry led all 25 laps in winning the late model stock feature. Trailing Ferry to the stripe was Chris Tedder, Roy Crain, Robert Fraley and Jimmy Boyette.

Gene Owen paced the first seven circuits of the Florida modifed main but Jason Garver took command at lap eight and never looked back in winning the 20 lapper. Owen took second money ahead of Rick McManaway, Wayne Parker and Matt Weaver.

The always exciting street stock headliner saw Brad Fiene lead wire to wire for the win to secure a three point lead in the point standings with one week remaining in the season. Tim Conrad was second in the 20 lapper with Nick Reid, Charles Seroki and Ray Wheeler following. Seroki is Fiene's challenger in the championship. L.H. Davis topped the pure stocks ahead of Matt Stafford and Jason Parker.
