Powell Wins 36th Governor's Cup Race

Since there will be a story coming up on the Governor's
Cup, I will only give you the top ten for that race:
Winner - James Powell III - #37,
2. #84 - Wayne Anderson,
3. #11 - David Rogers,
4. #48 - Jonny Kay,
5. #73 - Billy Mowery,
6. #19 - Tom Root,
7. #3 -Mike Bresnahan,
8. #31 - Jeff Sloan,
9. #07 - Jeff Scoffield,
10. #7 - Matt Griffin.
Thirty two took the green, 9 finished.

The Open Wheel Modified saw 16 cars in the field with
the #71 of Joe Middleton on the pole. But when the green
was thrown, it was the #09 of Rob Underwood who jumped
to the lead with the #00 of Wayne Southard in second.
Underwood tried his best to keep the lead but in the back,
coming up fast was the #15 of Tank Tucker. Tucker is having
an exceptional year this year winning many times. Once
Tucker passed Underwood, no one could catch him not even
the seasoned #66 of Jerry Symons. The top five were:

1. #15 - Tank Tucker
2. #09 - Rob Underwood
3. #29 - Bo Davis
4. #66 - Jerry Symons
5. #7 - Mark Vandevender
6. #16 - Justin Henderson (great job for Justin who is coming
back from a severe visit to the track wall)

The Mini-Stocks had a full field with Dale Casteel in the #9
on the pole. But sitting on the outside pole was the #55 of
Rick Tumey who was able to take the lead on the start and win.
At one point, Tumey and Conrad Grenier #01 had a little run
in and I would like to give Grenier credit for a great save.
Also, the #6 of David Castello (with his new engine) did a
great job until he did a quick donut in turn 2. Castello
was fine and able to continue but lost his fourth place
lead. Top five were:

1. #55 - Rick Tumey
2. #9 - Dale Casteel
3. #7 - Tim "Missileman" McPhail
4. #44
5. #01 - Conrad Grenier

Twenty one Super Stocks were on hand for their feature
with the #23 of Bill Henry on the pole. The #30 of
Mike Wieczoreck quickly took the lead from the #23
with the #13 of Jim Winterstein close behind.

Eventually Winterstein got the lead with the #92 of Bobby Simcox
coming up fast from his fourth place position. Simcox
gave the #28 of Chris Peludat a little nudge which got
the #28 loose enough for the #92 to take over third place.
Simcox got pass the second place car of Wieczoreck and
set his eyes on the #13 of Winterstein.

Coming down the frontstretch, they were neck and neck and in turn 1,
Winterstein went head on into the wall. His car then
turned and headed down the track and was hit again by
the #50 of Stephen Dembinsky who had no place to go since
Winterstein and Simcox were the lead cars and the whole
field came up on Jim who was slowly drifting down the
track.

The race was red flagged and eventually stopped.
1. #13 - Jim Winterstein, 2. #92 -
Bobby Simcox, 3. #30 - Mike Wieczoreck, 4. #15x - Bill
Spade, 5. #28 - Chris Peludat.
