Citrus United Basket Named as Charity for the 2nd Annual Blast from the Past | BFTP MEDIA
Merritt Island, FL. (December 16, 2009) The 2nd Annual Blast from the Past scheduled for March 7, 2010, at Citrus County Speedway is proud to announce that this year's charity organization that the benefit will help is the Citrus United Basket.
The Citrus United Basket, located at 103 N. Mills Avenue in Inverness, Florida, helps families with their electric bills, food, and will celebrate their 31st annual Christmas Toy run this year. They are there, as long as funds hold up, when you are down on your luck and need a helping hand.
"I looked at alot of charities but this one just touched by heart," said Event Organizer Joyce Lankford. "I really wanted to find a charity close to home where we could see what all our work went to and this is the one."
The 2nd Annual Blast from the Past is still in need of sponsors and donations to help make the event happen.
"We have to pay for the track rental, the insurance, food, trophies, and so much more and we really do need help. If you cannot afford to sponsor any of the event, donations as small as $5.00 will also help."
You can send your donations or if you would like to help sponsor the event to: Joyce Lankford P.O.Box 77 Worthington Springs,Florida 32697 352-942-2369 slankfordl@aol.com
Also, the Blast from the Past is looking for Vendors. If you would like to be a vendor for this event, contact Joyce Lankford for more information.
Dave Westerman, well known in the Florida racing community and announcer for Auburndale Speedway and previously Orlando SpeedWorld, will be the announcer for the event with LaVerne Patrick as the Flagman.
"These two gentlemen bring alot of Florida racing history with them and will be a great asset to our event. Dave Westerman knows everyone and is a great announcer. He will add alot of flavor to the program along with LaVerne Patrick in the flagstand."
The Blast from the Past also has a brand new website where you can check for the latest updates - www.blast.karnac.com. All information will be posted there.
"If you know of anyone who needs an invitation, we are still taking names. Please send the name and address to either myself or Jane Smith (racingjls@aol.com) and we will gladly add them to the invitation list. We hope to make this the biggest event of the year for our old time racers and with your help, we will. And remember, this is not just for asphalt drivers but also for any dirt drivers 60 years or older so please send in names."
For information will be coming but from everyone at the 2nd Annual Blast From the Past, we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
May 2010 be much better for all of us.
