Volusia Speedway Park presents Holiday Convention Classic this Weekend | VSP MEDIA
Barberville, FL (December 8, 2009) In just a few days, Volusia Speedway Park will host the Holiday Convention Classic with Sprint Cars, Mini Sprints, Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman. Plus for the kids, nightly visits with that dear old man "Santa Claus".
"We are very excited about this weekend," said General Manager Tonya Moschell. "Not only will fans see some great racing but also meet Kenny Schrader who will be joining us and Santa Claus. Santa will be handing out candy to the kids and Kenny will delight the fans with some great dirt track modified racing."
"We have been off now for quite awhile and it will be great for all of us to get back into action this weekend. Fans can go to the PRI Show in Orlando during the day and come and join us at night for some great racing."
On Friday night, December 11th, we will have the Top Gun Sprint Car Series, Florida Mini Sprints and the DIRTcar Open Wheel Modifieds presented by Gator's Dockside and Gator's Bar-B-Q & Wings. If you have never seen the Top Gun Sprint Cars in action, you are definitely in for a treat. These guys race hard and race for the win and always bring a great group of cars to Volusia Speedway Park. And with $1,000 to win on the line, they will definitely come out to play.
The Florida Mini Sprints are always fun to watch and put on a fantastic show. And if that is not enough, the DIRTcar Open Wheel Modifieds will be in action and these guys race hard and you never know who will be in Victory Lane.
On Friday night, NASCAR star and a fan favorite Ken Schrader will be at Volusia Speedway Park with his #9 Dirt Modified. Schrader, who recently raced at North Florida Speedway, showed his dirt driving skills and went home with the trophy for the night. But Volusia has got some great modified racers and they will definitely give Schrader a run for his money on Friday.
On Saturday, December 12th, the Florida Late Models will be in action along with the UMP DIRTcar Sportsman. The Florida Late Models will race for $2,500 to win with the UMP DIRTcar Sportsman going for $1,000 to win.
You definitley want to be there for the weekend and remember, toys are being collected by the Marine Corps Reserve Units for their annual Toys for Tots program. A new unwrapped toy will bring smiles to many children who won't have a Christmas without your donation. This year, more than ever, toys are needed with more families out of work. Put a smile on a child's face and please bring a toy.
Adult grandstand admission for each night of the Convention Holiday Classic is $20. Fans can take advantage of special savings by donating a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots. Admission with a toy donation, PRI show badge, or coupon will be just $15. Coupons can be obtained at Daytona Dodge Chrysler. Drive-in parking is $10.00 and camping is FREE.
Pit admission is $25 -- $22 for DIRTcar members.
Pit gates open at 4:30 pm, grandstand gates open at 5:30 pm and racing starts at 7:30 pm.
Don’t forget to stop by the World Racing Group booth (#1823) at the Performance Racing Industry trade show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., to see what’s ahead for the 2010 season, plus pick up a coupon for a free beer at Volusia Speedway during the Convention Holiday Classic.
