Plans for the 2nd Annual BLAST FROM THE PAST Are in the Making | BFTP MEDIA
Merritt Island, FL (October 16, 2009) Plans for the second annual "BLAST FROM THE PAST" are in the works for 2010. Although a specific track has not been chosen yet to hold the event, plans are definitely being worked on.
"I promised everyone I would do a second BLAST FROM THE PAST," said Event Organizer Joyce Lanford. "We had hoped, of course, to do it at Columbia Motorsports Park but plans have changed and we are now looking for another track to hold our event. I have several locations I am working on and that will be announced later."
"BLAST FROM THE PAST" was held at Columbia Motorsports Park and truly ended up being a blast from the past. With drivers like Dickie Anderson, Leroy Porter, Jim Fenton, Perry Lovelady, Don Nerone, Bill Posey and a host of other "oldie" but "goodie" drivers on hand, no one was disappointed.
"In 2010 I really want to make sure we get everyone invited," said Joyce. "We would like not only asphalt drivers from the past but also our dirt drivers. BLAST FROM THE PAST is for any driver, crew member, car owner, etc. that is sixty years of age or older. It is a time where drivers swap stories from the past with each other and some of the younger generation. But we need your help for the 2010 reunion and if you have someone who should be invited and have their address and phone number, please let me know."
At the first reunion, a few drivers brought their cars and hopefully in 2010, more will bring their cars.
"It was great seeing these guys back behind the wheels of their cars. I am really hoping that we can get alot more cars for our second reunion, even some good "ole" dirt cars also. Even if you don't want to race them, it is great for the fans to see some of the old cars from the past so bring them on." "It was so hot for our first reunion for everyone, the second one will definitely be held probably in March when the weather is much cooler. I think this will help alot since the heat can drain anyone and it was just too hot in August for everyone. Cooler weather will definitely be an asset for our event."
Watch for a new website to be out shortly for the "BLAST FROM THE PAST". Also, if you have the name and address of any asphalt or dirt driver that needs to be invited, please send the information to Joyce Landford at slankfordl@aol.com or Jane Smith at racingjls@aol.com. More information on the 2nd Annual Blast from the Past will be worthcoming. Have an opinion on
