| Drew Brannon Wins the Final 2009 ASA Late Model South Event | ASA Late Model South Media
 Drew Brannon wins the final ASA Late Model Series event of the 2009 Season at the Charlotte County Motorsports Park on October 3, 2009. Brandon Johnson and Brian Blum finish close behind to round out the top three.
It was an exiting event with the 11 of Austin Kirkpatrick taking the lead from pole sitter 21 Blake Koch on lap one. Drew worked his way up to the field and he battled with the 93 of Brandon Johnson as well as Austin sometime 3 wide for a number of laps before taking the lead at lap 22.
Caution one flew at lap 7 with an incident between the 59 Dustin Dunn and 88 of Justin Larson. The second caution was at lap 29 with a spin from the 70 of Jeremy Gerstner, Caution 3 was at lap 48 with a spin from the 78 of Aaron Williamson.
At lap 23 the first car out of the event was the 19 of Kevin Macy with mechanical problems, the 151 of Richie Anderson followed on lap 24 with his own handling issues. The 70 or Jeremy Gerstner held on as long as he could before he went out at lap 39 with Power Steering issues, the 77 of Tuffy Hestner went out at lap 40. The 26 of Travis Cope blew a motor and only got 48 of the 100 laps in.
The 08 of Drew Brannon took enough points to win the ASA Late Model Series South Division Championship for the 2009 season. The 11 of Austin Kirkpatrick beat out rival team 51 Stephen Nasse for the ASA Late Model Series South Division Rookie of the year for the 2009 season. Austin went into the event only 12 points in front of Nasse, they finished the event 7th and 8th for a close battle.
Seventeen Open Wheel Modifieds raced 35 laps, Doug Moff taking the win.
