Volusia Speedway Park Must Cancel Final Points Night Saturday, Go Back to Origial Schedule with "Gotta Chance Night" this Saturday | Barberville, FL (September 29, 2009) Ninety seven cars filled the pits at Volusia Speedway Park for the final night of the 2009 points race season. Hopes were high for those leading the points, fans were ready to see some great dirt track racing and then it started. At first only a mist and then big raindrops cancelling the show for the night.
"I really, really wanted to get this race in," said General Manager Tonya Moscheel with a very disheartening look on her face. "The radar looked like we would miss the worse part but obviously weather doesn’t always go the way we would like. We had just finished preparing the track for the night when the mist followed by heavier rains came and just kept coming. Finally, I knew it was too wet and would have taken hours and hours to prepare the track so we were forced to call the evening's events."
A variety of scheduling conflicts forces Volusia Speedway to crown the track champions based on the standings as of 9-19-09.
