Back to School Night/New Journal Night this Saturday at Volusia Speedway Park | by Jane Smith
Barberville, FL (August 11, 2009) Volusia Speedway Park welcomes Back to School Night/News Journal Night this Saturday, August 15. Fans will receive $1.00 off General Admission by bringing a school supply to the track and $3.00 off by bringing a backpack. Fans will find coupons this week in the Daytona News Journal for Saturday night.
On the program will be the make-up races for the Late Models from the August 1st rainout plus Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Thunder Stocks and 4 Cylinder Challengers. A full night of racing fun and a way to help area school children with school supplies.
Fans saw Ronnie Ponce get his second win for the Sportsman in the make-up race but it was Alan Peacock who won the second feature for his second winn of the year. Phil Brown finally proved that Grady Christian can be beat in the Street Stock division as he took home the Street Stock makeup race. But on the second feature, it was back to normal for the division as Grady Christian took his place in Victory Lane.
Racin Jason Davis took the Modified win as Donnie Nobles got his first win of the year in the Thunder Stock divison. Also first time winner Dalton Strehle found himself in Victory Lane for the 4 Cylinder Challengers.
Pit gates will open at 4:30 pm with grandstands opening at 5:30 pm. Racing starts promptly at 7:30 pm.
General admission is $10.00 with $1.00 off for any school supply and $3.00 off for a backpack. Students 11 - 15 are $5.00 with College Students and High School Students $5.00. Children 10 and under are FREE. Drive-in parking is also $10.00.
