2nd Annual Weiner Nationals Set for August 1 at Volusia Speedway Park | VSP MEDIA
Barberrville, FL (July 29, 2009) Fans are in for a treat this Saturday at Volusia Speedway Park when the 2nd Annual Barberville Wiener Nationals takes place. Yes, there will be little Dachshunds racing around Volusia Speedway Park. Four legged racing at it's best.
Also on the program for the first day of August will be the Late Models, Sportsman, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinder Challengers who go for $250.00 to win and the Mini Stocks will return for $500.00 to win. A great night for even the most diehard dirt track fan.
Coming off the feature win in the Mini Stock division last weekend was points leader for the Modified division at Volusia - Rob Underwood. Rob is well known for trying anything once and found that he could also handle a Mini Stock and proved the point by his first win. Also in the field last Saturday was a asphalt Super Late Model Champion Jared Allison from Orlando SpeedWorld. In spite of no practice, Allison drove his dad's Mini Stock to a fourth place finish on his first time on dirt. Who will win this Saturday, you will have to be there to find out!!!
Lawton Minchew leads the points in the Late Model division followed by Stanton Mills, Richard Ferry, Joe Kump and Darell Padgett. Mark Whitener was the most recent winner on July 18 in the Late Model division but can he, will he, do it again??? Got to be there to find out.
The biggest question at Volusia has been - can anyone beat Grady Christian?? This guy has had the luck of the Irish with him all year thus far and has been on quite a winning streak. Several have tried to unseat the "king" of the Street Stocks but none have made it yet. Will this be the Saturday when someone new sees Victory Lane?? That is the question for this Saturday in Street Stocks.
Pit gate will open at 4:30 with grandstands opening at 5:30. Racing starts at 7:30 pm. General admission for this Saturday is $10.00 adults, students 11-15 $5.00, children 10 and under FREE and drive-in parking $10.00.
Volusia Speedway Park is located 15 miles west of Ormond Beach, FL on State Road 40. Additional information and updates will be available on the website - www.volusiaspeedwaypark.com , or call 386-985-4402. Have an opinion on
