IT'S TIME TO RACE!!

May 28, 2009 Help Needed This Weekend At Hendry County Motorsports Park HCMP Media Release This Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31 racers and fans from the Hendry County racing community are needed to help prepare the track for it's July opening. On Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 to 4:40 each day, projects will be underway at the track including painting, raking and general cleanup, installing signs and dozens of others. Larry Thacker will be at the track on Saturday and Ken Kinney will be there Sunday to help organize the projects. "Fans and drivers have been asking for months to come and and help, and now that time has finally come when we need their help", new speedway owner Ken Kinney said yesterday. "We need help with everything from cleaning out the rocks from the track surface to small construction projects, to hanging our new billboards" Kinney said. He commented on the great job the small crew has done to getting the track to this point but indicated the need for a lot of volunteer efforts in order to be ready on time for the July 18 opening date. Anyone wishing to assist the speedway's preparations on Saturday can call 941-426-6760, 863-241-7388 or 863-673-4325. Or just show up on Saturday or Sunday. Rakes, shovels, weed eaters, pressure washers, circular saws and similar items will be useful. If anyone has surplus 2 X 6 boards to donate, please call 863-673-4325. The first scheduled practice for drivers will be Saturday June 13, with added practice dates on Saturday June 20, Thursday July 9, and then July 11, the Saturday before the track opens for racing.
