Auburndale Speedway Officially Implements New Rule | By Phil Schryver Karnac Media
Auburndale Speedway has implemented a new rule that states: Late entry for all racers will be from 6pm to the checkered flag of the last heat race.
Many people may have heard about the incident that occurred last weekend at Auburndale Speedway, where 2 Sportsman drivers, Aaron Williamson and Jason Stifle, were not allowed to race in the feature event after they had driven from Charlotte County Motorsports Park after finishing their race there earlier in the evening.
When interviewing Rex Guy, General Manager of Auburndale Speedway, He stated “Both Williamson and Stifle had been informed by phone ahead of time that they would not be able to race at Auburndale that night.”
When interviewing Aaron Williamson, Aaron stated that they had not received a call ahead of time and did not know until he had been on the track for the start of the race. One additional driver, Bobby Mobley, who races in the Street Stock class, had also crew chiefed for a driver aT Charlotte County that day, had also decided to try to make the show at Auburndale that night, stated that he had called Auburndale Speedway while traveling there, and was told he would not be allowed to race. Bobby Mobley also stated that he did not believe what he was hearing and went to the track anyway.
This past Monday night on Inside Florida Racing radio show, both Aaron Williamson and Jason Stifle were interviewed about what happened that night. Rob Armstrong, also part of the management at Auburndale Speedway, was also interviewed.
Mr. Armstrong stated “The decision to not let Williamson and Stifle race that night was based on what they felt was best for the racers that were there to race for points”. Rob Armstrong also restated “The drivers must be signed in by the end of the heat races in order to race in the feature event that night.” Armstrong also did state that “We are open to driver feedback”.
This policy that Auburndale Speedway has implemented, would make it almost impossible for a driver to race at another track that same day and then be able to travel to their track and race in the feature event.
Tune in to Inside Florida Racing at www.realracinusa.com this coming Monday night at 7pm to hear some well known racers voice their opinion on this subject. Guests will include Wayne Morris, Dick Anderson, Lee Collins, Patrick Williams, and Joe Winchell. Also on the show will be Rex Guy, to further explain their stand on this issue. Have an opinion on
