IT'S TIME TO RACE!!

January 20, 2008 2007 FASCAR Champions Honored January 19th in Daytona Beach FASCAR Media Daytona Beach, Fla. (January 19. 2008) The Bill France Grand Ballroom at the Shores Resort and Spa was filled to capacity as the annual FASCAR banquet took over the ballroom on Saturday night. People gathered together to honor the top ten in all FASCAR racing divisions and the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series, Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series, Advance Auto Parts Pro Truck Series, Florida Mini Stock Challenge Series, Southern Sportsman Series, Gulfcoast Modified Series and the EXTREME Modified Series. The full house dined on chicken and beef while Rusty Marcus, General Manager at Orlando SpeedWorld, and Mark Keeler gave out trophys and prizes. Jim Jones, the track photographer for 30 years, was honored with a special plague and a jacket along with the Hart Award going to Butch and Barbara Pierce for their many years of service to FASCAR. There were a few double champions in the group, Tim Russell who won the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series championship and the Bright House Challenge Championship. Russell was already crowned the Triple Crown Champion. Russell presented special trophys to members of his team who helped him throughout the year. Robbie Cooper won double championships in not only the Gulfcoast Modified Series but also the EXTREME Modified Series. Cooper had an outstanding year in his open wheel modified. New Smyrna Speedway will now prepare for the 42nd Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing from Feb. 8th thru Feb. 16th while Orlando SpeedWorld prepares for their Winternationals.
