Back To School Program Back in Action | By Jill Marie
The "Readers and Racer" Back to School Festival was well received by the Junior Race Fans at East Bay Raceway Park. They all may have been damp on the outside, but spirits were anything but damp for both parents and kids as we celebrated the beginning of another successful and safe school year! Over 100 participated while the rains passed through.
A first annual event for East Bay, this program event ran for over ten years at the gone-but-NOT-forgotten Sunshine "Action" Speedway. A brain-child (now don't go on about that….!) of Q Auto & Injury Attorneys' Jill Marie, "Readers and Racers" included a visit to the Free Books Bear for a free book to take home; face painting with East Bay's own Kids Club, Miss Darlene; an opportunity to win book bags slam full of brandy new school stuff; goodies from Q Motorsports; a chance to create a greeting card for our troops to give some joy; and a visit to the Q tent once the lightning quit to create a spin art with Miss Jill. All free and brought to you by the warm sponsorship of Leonard A McCue & Associates, PA who support the youth of Florida in so many ways including the Q Motorsports Student Racer Scholarship Program.
Our Student Racer Scholarship Program is alive and well being administrated by the fine folks at USF. The program is now focused on the high school/college Student Racer enrolling at any USF campus. Just this season, Dustin Chisholm, a consistent asphalt star was awarded…heck he EARNED another $1,000 scholarship to continue his education! You can always contact us at 800-332-1994 for more information or call directly to the USF offices.

Rumor has it that Courtney Andries, a third year student at USF is returning to go-kart racing at Tri City Karters, currently racing at Desoto Speedway. Look out Dustin, here comes the competition!
Plans for next season's Readers and Racers are already in the work…like how not to get the games tent flooded AND .even more stuffed-to-the-brim book bags! As one of our winners noted as she received her book bag with a very bright smile and a light in her eyes, " This is HEAVY!!"
Many thanks to the leadership of East Bay Raceway Park and specially to Miss Janet making the return of "Readers and Racers" to our Junior Race fans possible. East Bay Raceway folks are the best! Just ask their racing families!! Have an opinion on
