Samsula, Fla. (June 28, 2006) What is more fun than a barrel of monkies, a great day at the beach, or a long sailboat ride into the sunset?
If you are tired of Nextel Cup and want to see some real short track racing, come join us at Orlando SpeedWorld on Friday night, Columbia Motorsports Park on Saturday night and New Smyrna Speedway on Sunday for some of the best July 4th fun you can have.
FASCAR will open their July 4th Gala weekend at Orlando SpeedWorld on Friday night with plenty of racing action for the most diehard fan. There will be RE/MAX Legends, Bandoleros, Florida Open Wheel Lites, Pro Challenge, Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock, Jr. Stocks and Strictly Stocks. Fans will have plenty to chose from and plenty of fun.
It will be "features only" at SpeedWorld but with all this, you won't miss heat races. The only division missing will be the Super Late Models who will be getting ready for Sunday's action at New Smyrna Speedway with the Clyde Hart Memorial 200.
Pit gate will open at 3 pm on Friday with open practice from 4 to 7 pm. Racing starts at 8 pm with general admission $15.00, students and seniors $10.00, children 11 and under free. Orlando SpeedWorld is located at 19164 E. Colonial Drive right before 50 and 520 spit. For more information on Orlando SpeedWorld go to www.orlandospeedworld.org.
While Nextel Cup fans wait in long lines and bumper to bumper traffic in Daytona on Saturday, local fans will be in for a treat at Columbia Motorsports Park in Lake City. Columbia will also offer something for every fan from the CRASH-A-RAMA Stunt Show, to a Compact Demo Derby, 100 lap enduro race, a $2,000 to win Street Stock 50 race, Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Hornets, and TQ Late Models.
Bring your lawn chair and enjoy one fun filled night from the craziest stunts to the Open Wheel Modifieds. The fun starts at 7:30 pm with general admission $20.00, students and seniors $15.00, children 11 and under free. For more information on Columbia Motorsports Park go to www.columbiamotorsportspark.com.
Sunday, July 2, at New Smyrna Speedway, the FASCAR Pro Truck 75 will start at 6:30 followed by the annual Clyde Hart Memorial Sunbelt 200. Yes, I said 200. An extra 75 laps and $5,000 have been added to the Clyde Hart Memorial makes it a 200 lap race with $10,000 to win. Adding the 75 laps will now involve pit stops for the drivers so pit crews will be practicing until the last minute to sharpen up their skills.
Now if you want ever more excitement, the Clyde Hart Memorial 200 has lap money also which if all 200 laps are sold could add an extra $20,000 to the purse.
Each lap is sold for $100.00 and whatever driver leads on that lap will receive the $100.00. If one "lucky" driver should lead all 200 laps, he could go home with $30,000 in his pocket, which is pretty good pocket change for a local short track race.
In 2005, Mike Fritts won the Governor's Cup 200 which had all 200 laps sold. Fritts led for approximately 180 of the laps giving him an extra $18,000 plus the $5,000 for the win. Well, the Clyde Hart Memorial will do the same except it pays $10,000 to win.
There will be an open practice for the Clyde Hart Memorial 200 on Saturday, July 1, from 12 noon to 6 pm. This will give drivers and crews plenty of time to make the Pepsi 400 that night from New Smyrna Speedway. Cost for practice will be $10.00 per person.
To top off the night at New Smyrna Speedway, FIREWORKS will light up the sky. General admission on Sunday, July 2, is $20.00, students and seniors $15.00, children 11 and under free. For more information on New Smyrna Speedway or the Sunbelt Series, please go to www.fascar.org or newsmyrnaspeedway.org.
As you can see, there is plenty of local short track racing for everyone. Please join us at Orlando SpeedWorld, Columbia Motorsports Park and New Smyrna Speedway as we celebrate July 4th.
