Samsula, Fla. (May 30, 2006) The FASCAR Late Models make their first appearance this year at USA International on Saturday, June 3. The FASCAR Late Models will support the USAR Hooter's ProCup Series Sears Auto Center 250 presented by BF Goodrich.
"We always look forward to going to USA and supporting the Hooter's ProCup races," said Series Director Scott Jackman. "We have had great car counts this year and USA is one place that all Late Models like to race. We expect a full field and a great race."
The season started out March 17 at Orlando SpeedWorld with Joe Winchell in Victory Lane. Then it was rookie Travis Cope that topped the field at Bronson Motor Speedway on April 1. Brad May showed the way at New Smyrna Speedway on April 15 with Rich Clouser in Victory Lane at Columbia Motorsports Park on May 6. But it was Travis Cope who repeated his first win by a second win at Citrus County Speedway on May 20.
2005 Champion Rich Clouser presently leads the FASCAR Late Model points but rookie Dustin Deschamps is only four points behind Clouser. Deschamps, who was the Florida Mini Stock Challenge Champion, has really taken to Late Models and shown for consistent runs each race.
"Car owner Bobby Sears and I really like Lakeland and we always look forward to our trips there. The car has been good thus far this year except for the first race at Orlando where we were involved in a very early accident and taken out of the race before it began. But we have come back and look forward to Saturday," said Clouser.
Chuck Burkhalter, driver of the Jerry Quates owned 1x, stands third in points and only 13 points behind Deschamps. Rookie Travis Cope runs fourth, thirty two points behind Burkhalter. This will be the first time that Travis has run USA along with fellow rookie Deschamps.
