Tony Migliazzo surprised fans as well as fellow competitors Sunday in the Swamp Buggy Spring Classic at the Florida Sports Park in Naples, Florida.
Migliazzo with his Pro Modified Homewrecker machine won the feature event of the day by beating out veteran buggy racers Eddie Chesser in his Outlaw II machine and Wayne Harris in Southern Thunder. The awesome performance of Migliazzo kept Eddie Chesser from claiming the yet another Budweiser Cup Championship. The longtime buggy racer has won seven championships in his career.
Instead, Terry Walsh in his For Sale machine, claimed the 2006 Budweiser Cup Championship by a mere 2 points.
Racing fans from all over Florida enjoyed a day only to be had in South Florida at this time of year. License plates from 19 states and Canada were observed with a short stroll thorough the parking lots.
Concessions and vendors were doing a booming business while the 50/50 drawing climbed to nearly $8000. The winner, a lady from Ft Myers, eventually took home over $3,900.

Bob Swift, the new President of Swamp Buggy Inc said after the races were over, "It was a great year and swamp buggy racing here will be back bigger and stronger than ever before come next October".
Swift wants to quell persistent rumors to the effect that the popular racing action near Naples is going away, "Some people still seem to think that we are going to have to quit racing here. We'll be back and better than ever."
