You thought the racing season was all over! Not so you would notice. Citrus County Speedway has been idle since November 8th after their outstanding 2nd leg of the Governor’s Cup Sunbelt race that the fans really raved about.
What have the local racers been doing since then? They have been getting ready for the first leg of “Winter Spectacular III” that is set to go full bore on Saturday night, December 13th to give the fans a pre-holiday racing program that will get the need for speed back on track.
The post season idle Saturday nights are really boring so promoters Billy Hooker and Jimmy Ware are setting up this kick off to Winter racing program for the third year in a row and it has gotten the attention of many of the Super Late Model hot shoes that have no more series to run and their race cars are sitting idle in the garage.
Most race tracks have shut down for the winter season and Citrus County Speedway will offer a second leg of the “Winter Spectacular III” as a post holiday race on January 17th 2004. The regular season will kick off in February.
Friday, December 12th will offer an open practice for the competitors for the Saturday evening race at Citrus. Open practice will run from 5 until 7 p.m. with the Late Models only open to the final two hours from 8 until 10.
