Samsula, Fla (December 3, 2003) Team FASCAR was saddened today to learn of the death of one of their long time Super Stock drivers, Ron Paradise.
Ron Paradise was no ordinary man. Ron drove his No. 10 Super Stock with his hands because his legs did not work. He could not stand up and get into his car but had friends that always helped him in. He went around in the pits with his electric wheelchair and always had a friendly smile for everyone.
Ron Paradise loved racing and for many years you could find him every Saturday night at New Smyrna Speedway. But his health began to fail and Ron's racing was cut down to almost nothing.
To have known Ron Paradise was a blessing, his spirit always shone thru even in the darkest times. In spite of being wheelchair bound, nothing really stopped Ron and most fans never even knew he was handicapped unless they saw someone put him in the car.
Funeral arrangements are pending but will be released as soon as possible. Ron asked in his will to be cremated with his firesuit on so when he gets to heaven, he will be ready to go.
God bless Ron Paradise and his family, he will be missed. Have an opinion on this story? Post a message on our Message Board! <news@karnac.org>or send a letter to the editor!
