Friday, November 28, 2003 | | Joe Nemechek To Assist Elderly At USA International Speedway | By John Barker
As USAR ProCup drivers fight for a $250,000 paycheck for the season champion there will be much more going on at USA International Speedway on Saturday night.
Nextel Cup driver Joe Nemechek of Lakeland will be in attendance at USA International Speedway on Nov. 29 for Hooters 300 racing thanks to Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE).
VISTE was founded in 1983 and its purpose and primary goal is to provide services which enable frail elderly persons to continue living independently in their own homes, safely, comfortably, and in better health. There's a special VISTE VIP Nov. 29 race ticket for $150 that include a VIP reception pig fest with Nemechek, VIP Parking, Nemechek T-shirt, live auction with Nemechek and NASCAR memorabilia.
There will also be a silent auction with racing items provided by Terry Labonte, Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Spencer and other current Nextel Cup drivers.
There is also a $35 race ticket that includes a T-shirt and a live Nemechek interview.
The money received from the VIP tickets will help fund the VISTE program.
Nemechek will also have a separate Fan Club get together from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a more relaxed time with our hometown driver.
If you're not a current fan club member you can join at USA for $24.95. This membership will include a membership kit and other racing goods for 2004.
For Florida/Florida State football fans there will be a 16 X 22 feet screen for viewing that game on Jumbo-Tron near the ticket booth between turns three and four.
You can also plan your tailgate party there for this game and race.
The Say NO to Drugs program will be giving free smoke alarms before the race.
Fireworks will close the evenings race activities.
Tickets will also be available at the gate. Have an opinion on this story? Post a message on our Message Board! <news@karnac.org>or send a letter to the editor!
