PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Another big Saturday night of special races looms at Charlotte County Speedway on Nov. 1.
Headlining is the FASCAR Goodyear Challenge Limited Late Model Series, which will run 100 laps at the Punta Gorda paved oval.
Steve Dorer will have his #10 Late Model in contention Saturday night.
Also on the card are the Florida Mini Stock Challenge 100 and the Outlaw Modified Series.
Saturday night will be the next to last race of the year for the Goodyear Challenge Series. The series has stopped at CCS twice earlier in the year. Local points leader Steve Arnold of Cape Coral won back in May, while Mike Hovis of North Fort Myers and Wayne Morris of Mulbery captured the Twin 50s held in early October.
The last time the Goodyear Challenge Series raced was Oct. 18 at USA International Speedway. Larry Osteen won that race. Points leader Jerry Artuso of Canada was fifth and clung to his lead over Rich Clouser, who was sixth.Scott Kleiber of Naples was 10th in that race.
The Florida Mini Stock Challenge Series will also run a 100-lap feature at CCS Satuirday night. Robbie Yoakum of Hernando leads this series in points.
He was second to Robbie Storer of Zephyrhills in the series most recent race Oct. 18 at Bronson. Punta Gorda drivers Jason Kuykendall, Travis Kuykendall and Jimmy Warram will be racing the 100-lapper at CCS.
The Outlaw Modified points leader is Raymond Jones of Arcadia. He finished third in the series’ most recent outing Oct. 18 at Auburndale.
Doug Hopper won that race. Rookie of the Year candidate Mike Endee of North Port was 11th at Auburndale and climbed to 18th in points. He has only been racing half the season in the No. 29 car owned by father Kevin of Endee’s Garage in El Jobean.
Charlotte County Speedway’s front-wheel drive 4-cylinder divisions will also be racing Saturday night.
With Saturday night being the day after Halloween, Charlotte County Speedway will be holding costume contests for kids ages 12 and under. Kids can also take part in a hayride and trick-or-treat the drivers.
Admission is $15 for adults and $13 for senior citizens.
