Ralph Bowman, winner of the first Triple Classic race

If you feel the earth shake this Saturday at Charlotte County Speedway, it will not be a earthquake but the second leg of the Bearden Oil/Southern Race Fuels Gulfcoast Triple Classic and some of the best modified drivers in the state.

"The first leg was a great success drawing 40 competitors," said Frank Hill of Sunshine Speedway. "It was a very positive beginning for this new Gulfcoast Triple Classic event sponsored by Bearden Oil and Southern Race Fuels."

On Saturday, October 25th, the second leg will run at Charlotte County Speedway for 75 laps. This event will pay $1500 to win with a $75.00 entry fee. Once again, Hat Rack Shocks and Chassis will present the fast qualifier with an extra $150.00 and Webb Roofing will sponsor the "hard charger" award for the race.

After the first leg was run, a $300 "winner take all" race was run for the competitors who did not qualify for the 50 lap feature. Matthew Fetterhoff of Riverview won the feature with Phil Morrison of Punta Gorda taking the Webb Roofing $250.00 "hard charger" award for the feature race.

Leroy Davidson, owner of Charlotte County Speedway, said "we have done alot of improvements to the track and we expect a good number of modifieds for the second leg. Charlotte County Speedway is very proud to be part of the Bearden Oil/Southern Race Fuels Gulfcoast Triple Classic and look forward to having them back again."

Local modified driver Phil Morrison, who was the "hard charger" of race number one will not be able to compete this Saturday due to his
suspension from Charlotte County Speedway until the end of the 2003
season for "rough" driving.

The third leg will run on November 9th at Bronson Motor Speedway and this will be a 100 lap event. The top ten in points after the Bronson race will have a drawing for a chance to win a Gulfcoast Spec Engine built by Dave Pletcher Racing in association with B.H.J. Balancers, Champ Pans, Comp. Cams, Corteco, Crower, Eage, R.E.V., and T.A.W. supplying parts for the spec engine.

The top ten will also draw for a OWM Body/Mounted, OWM Chassis, Four Bilstein Shocks, $1,200 in machine work, four Landrum Springs, fifty gallon drum of fuel, $500.00 cash, four Goodyear Tires and Four Hoosier Tires.
