Spring Speed 2003 to showcase Sunbelt Super Late Models and Goodyear Challenge Late Models at USA | by John Barker
SAMSULA, FLORIDA - Spring Speed 2003 FASCAR racing presented by Coca Cola and Michael Holley Chevrolet moves to USA International Speedway in Lakeland, FL Saturday night.
Late Model racing highlights the evening, featuring a Sunbelt Super Late Model Series 125 at 7:30 p.m. with Goodyear Challenge Series 100 competition immediately following. There will also be a FASTRUCK 50 lap event to close the evening’s program.
Practice starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday and ends at 3 p.m. Each division is scheduled for qualifying beginning at 4 p.m. on the three-quarter mile high banked track.
Ticket prices range from $15 to $25 and children 10 and under are $5. Advance tickets can be purchased by credit card by calling 1-800-984-7223.
Sunbelt Super Late Model driver Wayne Anderson of Wildwood, FL is the current point leader with 416 in his Pro Shocks car. Jonny Kay of Deerfield Beach, FL follows with 317 and has been a tough competitor. James Powell III of Astor, FL is third in the Natural Products ride with 295 points.
Goodyear Challenge Late Model driver Jason Boyd of Orlando, FL leads that series with 110 points in his Tom Donnelly Plumbing car. Larry Osteen of Clermont, FL is second in points with 103 in his Florida Auto Express ride. The Thurston Used Cars machine with Tim Russell of Longwood, FL at the wheel follows with 95 points.
