Sunbelt Super Later Models Ready To Rumble in Double Header Weekend | Super Late Models down the stretch at Ocala Speedway,
The second race for the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series is set for March 14 at Ocala Speedway.
But this year is a little different as the Sunbelt tackles race number three at Bronson Motor Speedway on the following night, Saturday, March 15.
The first race for the Sunbelt Super Late Models was held at the beginning of February as the Pete Orr Memorial Orange Blossom 125 with Wayne Anderson taking the win and the points lead for the series.
Anderson wants to win the Sunbelt Championship in 2003 and went to Ocala Speedway last Friday night and won again.
Also expected is Michael Williams, the 2002 Sunbelt Super Late Model Series Champion, who will defend his championship.
Among the other expected entries are James Powell III, David Rogers, Barry Willoughby, Chris Fontaine, David Froelich, Bruce Lawrence Sr. and Jr., and Ocala's own Patrick Williams and E.J. Wise.
After the Friday night race at Ocala, the Sunbelt drivers will head down the road for Bronson Motor Speedway in Bronson for their first visit ever.
"Bronson is very excited and happy to have the Sunbelt Super Late Models come to our track. We expect a good car count and full stands on Saturday night. This will be a very exciting night for our race fans," said Tommy Dunford, General Manager.
"This will be the first visit for many of the racers and will certainly be a night full of excitement. I can't wait," said Carol Newton, a regular fan at Bronson Motor Speedway.
Qualifying at Ocala Speedway will be 8 p.m. on Friday, March 14 and at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, at Bronson Motor Speedway. Racing action will start right after qualifying at both tracks.
James Powell III of Astor will be another favorite at his "home" track along with Ocala Speedway regulars Patrick Williams and E.J. Wise who are both coming off strong showings last week.
Young Brock Oglesby could be a surprise as the 15-year-old Ocala leadfoot was runner-up to Anderson last week and seems to have his car dialed in pretty well. Dick Anderson is Oglesby's Crew Chief since his move to semi-retirement.
2002 Sunbelt Champion Michael Williams of Mims will have two immaculate South 40 Motorsports Monte Carlos at his disposal for the Ocala race as he prepares to defend his championship.
Other possible entries include Barry Willoughby, Mike Good, Eric Black, Bobby Beauchemin, Larry Osteen, Johnny Kay, Jay Middleton, Lee Collins and a host of others as 30 or more cars are expected.
The Sunbelt Series will also be at Citrus County Speedway on the 29th of March for a 125 lap race and at the three-quarter mile USA International Speedway on April 12th.
