Samsula, Fla - Not only is the Daytona International Speedway heating up for SpeedWeeks, New Smyrna Speedway is getting ready for the 37th Annual World of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.
With nine straight nights of racing action in the Super Late Models, NASCAR Tour Type/SK Mods, Late Models, IMCA/FL Mods, Mini Stock, Sportsman, Super Stock and appearances by TBARA Winged Sprints, STARRS, Allison Legacy and FASTRUCKS, the action will be non-stop.
Once a year the NASCAR Tour Type/SK Mods make their way to Florida for one of the best, most aggressive shows around. Last year's Champion was Rob Summers. But such stars as Charlie Pasteryak, Eric Beers, Ted Christopher, Jamie Tomaino, George Kent, JR Bertuccio and Nevin George, just to name a few, come to New Smyrna Speedway to try their hand at the one-half mile 18 degree bank turns.
Not only do the "Best of the Best" Florida Super Late Model drivers come out but also such drivers as Junior Hanley, Louis Mechalides, Larry Gelines, Randy Gentry, Clay Rogers and Bob Fox seeking the thrill of winter- time racing in Florida.
New Smyrna Speedway has 9 straight nights of racing action. The NASCAR Tour Type/SK Mods will race every night except Monday, February 10. On Wednesday, February 12, they will have a 50 lap feature and on Friday, February 14 (Valentine's Day), they will have a 100 lap feature.
The Super Late Models will be in action every night except for Sunday, February 9. On Thursday, February 13, they will have a 50 lap feature with a 100 lap feature on Saturday, February 15.
Late Models and the IMCA/FL Open Wheel Modifieds will run all 9 nights with Mini Stock on February 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Sportsman will run February 12, 13, and 14 with Super Stocks on February 8 and 15. The "fan favorite" TBARA Winged Sprints will run February 9 and 10 with STARRS on February 10 and 11, Allison Legacy Cars and FASTRUCKS on February 14 and 15.
Front gates will open each night at 6 p.m. with racing action starting at 7:30 p.m. Reserved seat- ing is available by calling the track office at (386) 427-4129. Children 11 and under are free with a paying adult.
New Smyrna Speedway is located 10 miles south of Daytona between I-4 (Exit 56 East) and I-95 (Exit 84 West) to the intersection of S.R. 44 and 415 or south of Daytona Flea Market on S.R. 415 south to S.R. 44.
