And it goes without \u00a0saying that Williams and his Josh Williams Racing team picked up the pace considerably from their previous season and will look to raise that bar even further in Saturday\u2019s Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.\u00a0 Eight \u00a0of the 18 year old\u2019s 11 ARCA Racing Series starts have come on short tracks \u00a0with the other three consisting of the road courses of Palm Beach (Fla.) \u00a0International Raceway and New Jersey Motorsports Park. After turning the \u00a0legal age of 18 to compete at a superspeedway last August, the Port\u00a0Charlotte, Florida native is has eagerly but patiently waiting increase his rhyme on the tour. The time has finally arrived.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ve \u00a0been looking forward to this week since we started competing on the ARCA \u00a0Racing Series tour in 2010,\u201d said Williams, whose team is now run out of \u00a0Concord, North Carolina.<!--more-->\u00a0\u201cDaytona is a big deal to us and we haven\u2019t taken \u00a0any curves that could hinder us in any of the on-track activity that is \u00a0scheduled for this week.\u201d\u00a0 He \u00a0added, \u201cOne of the reasons, I\u2019m excited to walk into that garage area at \u00a0Daytona is knowing that the our main man calling the shots has won at that \u00a0amazing place and will be a part of our No. 02 Southwest Florida Cable\u00a0Construction Ford Fusion.\u201d Of course, the man that Williams is referring to is Barry Owen.\u00a0 Owen, \u00a0a former winning ARCA car owner at Daytona with restrictor plate ace Mike \u00a0Wallace will guide the rising star in his restrictor plate debut.\u00a0 \u201cAs \u00a0far as I\u2019m concerned, you don\u2019t get any better than Barry Owen,\u201d offered \u00a0Williams. \u201cHe truly has been the glue that has kept this team alive and\u00a0thriving and now we\u2019re going into his turf if you will at Daytona and we\u2019re \u00a0looking to be that inspirational story.\u00a0 We \u00a0can\u2019t predict what is going to happen. From practice to qualifying and even \u00a0the race, fate is fate. We know that we\u2019re bringing the strongest car that we can possibly bring to the racetrack and we\u2019re going to give nothing less \u00a0than 100 percent to put in solidly in the starting field and then turn our \u00a0concentration on the race. I don\u2019t have a lot of drafting experience, so I \u00a0have to be incredibly careful of the moves I make on the track, because I \u00a0might never know when I need that partner to be \u201chooked\u201d up with me.\u00a0 One \u00a0thing we will do no matter what this week(end) is hold our head high; because we made it to Daytona and that\u2019s nothing to be ashamed about!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/254818_109394799149728_100002376267960_89398_5821766_n-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9790\" title=\"254818_109394799149728_100002376267960_89398_5821766_n (2)\" src=\"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/254818_109394799149728_100002376267960_89398_5821766_n-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"346\" height=\"140\" \/><\/a>The \u00a0team is still in the process of finalizing their plans for the year and will \u00a0further concrete their direction following the conclusion of the first ARCA \u00a0race of the season.\u00a0 The \u00a0Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (80 laps \/ 200 miles) is the first of 20 \u00a0events on the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. \u00a0The \u00a049th ARCA race held at Daytona is a three-day show. \u00a0Practice \u00a0begins Thursday, February 16 with a four hour practice session planned from \u00a01:00p.m. &#8211; 5:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for Friday, February 17 slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. A forty-five minute final practice session is etched in on Saturday, February 18th from \u00a010:00 a.m. &#8211; 10:45 a.m. The event will take the \u00a0green flag later that day shortly after 4:30 p.m. The race will be televised \u00a0live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and \u00a0scoring and radio broadcast through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at\u00a0arcaracing.com <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcaracing.com\/\">www.arcaracing.com<\/a>.\u00a0 All\u00a0times are local.
