The Southern Performance Racing Parts 50 ended with a tired Devin Dixon parked in Victory Lane.

Dixon took the lead from Wallace Peacock and pulled out with David Schmauss in pursuit. “At the beginning, I looked like a rookie. I was fighting it out there,” Dixon said from Victory Lane. “Tonight, I am worn out. The car wasn’t the best tonight. The guys worked on it after the heat and got it better.”

Schmauss fought hard to keep second. Wallace Peacock trailed Schmauss to the stripe, but was DQed in tech for an illegal engine. The move put Josh Peacock into third with Phillip Cobb fourth and Bryan Bernhardt came from deep in the pack to claim a top five.

Travis Varnadore, Cobb and Schmauss claimed the heat wins.

J.R. Prather Jr. broke through into Victory Lane for the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Limited Late Models. Prather was constantly hounded by Forrest Gough, who took second. Jason Pope ran a steady race to claim third, ahead of Scotty Williams and Daniel Woody. Gough and John Gross scored the preliminary wins.

Jesse Brown scored his second win in Outlaw 4 competition, lapping the entire field during the 15-lap main. Point leader Nick Hebrank got the best of a race-long side-by-side challenge from Kyle Worden to earn second with Worden third. J.R. Baker recovered from an early race spin to claim fourth. Megan Rae, who had been as high as second until mechanical woes hit, rounded out the top five. Alex Boerner, who saw problems with the car in the feature, took the heat win.

A crashfest ensued in the Street Stock finale, whittling the field down to five cars at the end of the event. The cream of the crop was Jim Baker, who scored his first division win in convincing fashion. Jeff Rodgers mounted a few challenges, but Baker stayed focus on his lines and held the front to the end. Rodgers and Jarod Gay were trading positions throughout the laps, getting Rodgers second and Gay third. David Barwick II was fourth and Curtis Book topped off the front five. Baker’s feature win backed up his early heat victory for a two-win night.

Kever Raulerson started the 15-lap motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bomber main from the pole and finished where he started. Unfortunately, the Victory Lane celebration lasted less than 10 minutes before tech officials discovered the aluminum flywheel. The tech man’s call vaulted Kayla Jones to the winner’s circle, giving her a win in her new car. Roberto Morfin Sr. was moved to second with Troy Dittebrand’s third place giving him the unofficial division point lead. Patrick Fiore claimed fourth with Jimmy Odell, who lost a right side door during the skirmish, in fifth. Dittebrand, Morfin and Matthew Odell got their wins in the preliminaries.

Janine Dixon scored her second win of the season in the 10-car 12-lap Dirt Dauber main.

ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, June 25, 2011.
