Other winners on the night were Adam Bedenbaugh in Late Model action and Bobby Denard in Box Stock. The father and son team of Ed and Nevin Gainey raced to wins in Pure Stock and Street Stock.

Nineteen Pure Stock competitors rolled on to the speedway to get the nights feature events started. Ed Gainey would get the jump on the initial green and take the early lead. A lap two caution would slow the field but on the restart Gainey would again take control until caution would appear again on lap five. Two early movers were Timmy Roach and Shane Taylor as they worked their way into the top three from deep in the field. The next green flag run would be a lengthy one as Roach and Taylor battled for second Gainey would enjoy his lead spot and with two laps to go the yellow flag would make its final appearance of the race for the stalled car of Charles Strickland. The two lap dash to the checkers would see Gainey pull out to another comfortable lead and secure his first victory of the 2011 season. Roach would nose out Taylor at the line for second as Jerry Fortner and John Roberts filled out the top five.

Street Stocks were next up on the card and Robby Disbrow and Tim Harrell would have the honors of bringing the field to green. The first two attempts failed to yield a green flag lap and the second try saw some drivers night end before they could put that elusive green flag lap in the books. Point leader Marty Smith and 2010 division champion Randy Moody were two drivers who got caught up in the chaos and had to retire from the race before it could get officially started. The third time did prove to be the charm and Nevin Gainey moved out to the early lead from his third place starting spot. The only thing stopping Gainey from joining his dad in victory lane was a lap eight caution and a couple of attempts to get the race back underway. Devin Walker had his best finish in Street Stock action as he held off his dad Heath Walker for second.

Late Models returned to the speedway after a week off and Adam Bedenbaugh was ready to put his recent misfortunes behind him. After the initial start was waved off Bedenbaugh took control of the field and promptly began to put some distance between himself and Brandon DeWitt. Bedenbaugh’s only challenge of the night would be negotiating lapped traffic and that was not enough to slow down the defending champion and current point leader from making his fifth trip to victory lane. The caution free event would see Brandon DeWitt coming home second with Bo Allen third.

The Limited Modified field would take the green with Marvin Hassell on the pole but as he slid up the track in turn two Duane Paul Jr. would go from third to first to lead lap number one. His time at the front of the pack did not last long as Paul spun to the bottom of the track in turn two. Kyle Arvin would take over as the race leader and would soon have point leader Shane Taylor behind him. Cliff Suber would bring out the caution on lap four for a solo spin in turn one. Arvin would lead one more circuit before Hassell would spin on the back stretch and get collected by Paul. Another spin by Suber would bring out the caution flag and set up a two lap dash to the finish and Arvin would have to fend off Taylor one last time. Arvin worked the last two laps flawlessly and his reward would be his first feature event win.

Dylan Hurston would lead the the first lap but Bobby Denard would soon take over the lead with a three wide move down the front straightaway. Last weeks feature winner Daryl Larson would move into second and challenge Denard over the remaining laps but his bid would come up short. Rookie Billy Wilson would notch his career best finish as he chased Larson to the checkers to claim third.

Next week we pay tribute to the dads on Fathers Day weekend with the Late Models returning along with Mini Sprints. Also scheduled are the Sportsman, Pure Stock and TQ Lates. For more info go to northfloridaspeedway.com or call 386-754-8800. Hot laps start at 6:30 P.M. with racing at 7:30 P.M.

Official Results June 11th 2011
Pure Stock
1. Ed Gainey #57
2. Timmy Roach #44
3.
