After taking a week off for the holiday weekend drivers returned to action looking to bolster their chances in the championship chases in each division. Late Model action saw Adam Bedenbaugh survive a late race skirmish and a trip through post race technical inspection to earn his fourth consecutive victory. Other winners on the night were Kevin Durden in Street Stock, Nevin Gainey in Pure Stock, Donnie Hall in Limited Modified and John Windham in Box Stock. Also two lucky kids went home with new bikes courtesy of Burkins Chevrolet of Maclenny.

Street Stocks were the first division to hit the speedway for double points with Kevin Durden and Ray Wheeler on the front row. Durden would move out to an early lead he would not relinquish but Wheeler kept the pressure on Durden throughout the race. A caution on lap ten for a flat tire on Randy Moody’s number thirteen would bunch the field up for a restart but Durden would still maintain control of the race lead. Lap fourteen would see the caution fly again as Ron Lentz would lose a drive shaft and Heath Walker suffering from a flat tire as a result. The final one lap shootout would see Durden fight off Wheeler for the win and point leader Marty Smith collect his fifth top three finish in five starts on the 2011 seaon. Devin Walker and Dan Gifford would round out the top five.

Outside pole sitter Nevin Gainey would grab control of the Pure Stock feature and flex his muscle early as he would pace the field. The action behind Gainey was intense and sometimes physical as Jerry Fortner would battle with Shane Taylor, Chip Owen, John Roberts and Shawn Creech for position inside the top five. While Gainey would control the race and be the first to the checkers Fortner would prevail for second over John Roberts, Shane Taylor and Shawn Creech filling out the top five.

Late Models would be up next and the question would be can anybody stop Adam Bedenbaugh from earning his fourth consecutive win. Brandon Cameron would start on the pole position with Bedenbaugh to his outside. The first attempt at green would be a no go as the Clay Bedenbaugh machine would suffer apperant transmission problems from his inside row three starting spot. Once the race was underway Bedenbaugh would fire from his outside front row starting spot over Brandon Cameron. On lap four Johnny Collins would move past Cameron for second. By lap eight Bedenbaugh would start to encounter lapped traffic. At the halfway point Kyle Van Sickle would move past Cameron for third. With five laps left race leader Bedenbaugh would start to get bogged down in lapped traffic as Collins and Van Sickle battled for the runner up spot. With three to go Van Sickle moved past Collins and set his sights on Bedenbaugh. As the leaders would come to take the white flag a lapped car spun in front of the lead pack sending cars all over the race track. Somehow Bedenbaugh was able to escape the carnage as he would emerge from the chaos with only some body damage. From there he was able to hold off Collins and Kyle Van Sickle to make it four straight trips to victory lane. Track officials decided to take a closer look at the race winners car and he was deemed legal therefore making his fourth straight win official.

The Limited Modifieds were up next and the first four attempts at getting the race started would fail. Finally attempt number five was the charm as Donnie Hall moved to the front of the pack from the outside of the front row. Hall paced the first four laps untill a caution came out for a Duane Paul spin. Lap nine saw a spin by Shawn Taylor bring out the yellow once again. Kyle Arvin would bring out the caution again on lap ten. Chris Taylor would bring out the yellow flag next. Race leader Hall would survive a couple more scares to take his second feature event win for the 2011 season.

Box Stocks would round out the nights program and division frontrunner Kevin Underwood would not be able to answer the bell for the feature event. This would open the door for many competitors and John Windham would move to the front early in search of the win. Two cautions on lap two would slow the early going but once the field got things sorted out they would go to lap eight when a caution was needed for a flat tire on the Dylan Hurston machine. Lap nine would see Shaylynn Taylor spin in front of race leader Windham but he was able to avoid serious contact and score the win.

A special thank you to Burkin’s Chevrolet of Maclenny for donating the two bicycles for the kids give away. This is the second time in 2011 they have done this for us and the smiles on the winners faces is priceless.
