Almost 100 cars on hand in 5 divisions.

First feature of the night went to the Street Stocks. Another great battle was held between current points leader Jarod Gay and Billy Carlbert, Jr. for the last several laps. Jarod was running the low line while Carlbert liked the middle where his car seem to work best. As they went into Turn 3, the two were side by side, when Carlbert hammered down and come out of Turn 4 with the win. “We had a lot of things wrong with the car from the last accident. So we went thru the car and got it straightened out” said Carlbert in Victory Lane. Jarod Gay picked up second while Buck Woodhouse finished third. Roy Woodhouse and Jeff Rodgers rounded out the top 5. Cutis Book and Buck Woodhouse picked up heat wins.

Next up were the Late Models. Roger Crouse and Phillip Cobb made up the front row. From the drop of the green flag, Phillip Cobb had the race in hand. Travis Varnadore made some hard charges at the end but could not get passed Cobb for the win. Cobb was driving a Barry Wright chassis and was the same car he won during the NeSmith Crate Late Models during the 2011 Winternationals. Travis Varnadore finished second while a hard charging Dennis Williams finished third. Roger Crouse and Mavrick Varnadore were your top 5. Winning heat races were Cobb and Crouse.

Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers followed. Raymond Vann and Roberto Morfin, Sr. battled side by side several laps and then mechanical issues and both fell out of the race turning over the lead to Thomas Burnside. Burnside was able to capitalize picking up his second straight feature win. Kayla Jones was driving the 0 car of Darrel Taylor and wound up finishing second. Finishing third was the defending Champion, Kever Raulerson. Charlie Paris, Jr. finished fourth while Troy “Socks” Dittebrand came home fifth. Darrel Taylor picked up ninth while driving Kayla Jones car. Heat race winners were Chuck Mathias, Mathew Odell and Raymond Vann.

The Q Auto & Injury Late Models had a scary moment when the 1J of Randy Shields rolled over in Turn 1 collecting four other cars. One of the cars the did not get caught up in the action and stopping as the red came out was the 29W of Daniel Woody. Woody quickly jumped out of his car to go over and make sure Shields was ok. Shields was glad he was ok, but said the car was not fixable. Tim Gay picked up his second feature win of the season while holding off several attempts by several drivers, but is was Daniel Woody picking up the Runner-Up spot. Scotty Williams picked up third, Ricky Land fourth and Shane Koperda fifth. Williams and Forrest Gough picked up the heat wins.

The final race of the night belonged to the Dirt Daubers. Janine Dixon was leading early on when she tangled with D.B. Hogwaller and shut the car off and was not able to continue the race. That handed her husband, Bill with the lead. But soon was challenged by Brett Phillips. The two battled throughout the race, but it was Bill Dixon picking up the win.

On a sad note, East Bay heard that former Late Model driver and past Champion, Donnie Tanner had passed away early on in the afternoon. East Bay and its staff and management extend the condolences to the entire Tanner Family.

ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, April 23, 2011.
