That’s the only word we can think of, when we think back to opening night at 5 Flags Speedway. The atmosphere was electric as the 2011 Season began with a bang. (literally) For the first time ever, we came out of the gate with the opening round of the Blizzard Series, the Pepsi Max 100 to be exact. And the stellar field, consisting of a host of the nation’s finest drivers, did not disappoint the large opening night crowd. When it was over, Senoia, Georgia, driver Bubba Pollard found his way to Victory Lane, the first half of a weekend sweep that found him winning the Miller Lite 100 at Mobile International Speedway on Saturday Night as well. Neither victory came easy and Fans are already buzzing about the next Sunoco Gulf Coast Championship doubleheader scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. Also on opening night, a near dead heat finish in the Super Stock Division opener, found Bubba Winslow barely squeaking out Snowball Derby Champion Jessie Reid for the win. Steve Buttrick won yet another West Florida Coatings Sportsman feature, and Curtis Faircloth became the first winner for 2011 in the Butler U-Pull It Bombers. It was quite a start to a season we feel will deliver more excitement than we’ve seen in years.

Now, we’re staring Race #2 dead in the barrel, and it too should be a real shootout. This Friday Night, the Open Wheel Modifieds take center stage, as they open for 2011 with a 50 Lap feature. A good field of cars are expected for this one, led by veteran Gerald Wilkerson, who appears to be on the top of his game as of late, and Korey Ruble, the Super Late Model standout who will be piloting last year’s Championship winning car #66. Also on tap for Friday are the Sportsman cars, where we’re guaranteed a new winner as Steve Buttrick will be entering the Modified event, thus turning over his car to last year’s Bomber Champion, Mike Goraum. And keep an eye on Marty White, as only a broken throttle rod kept him out of contention on opening night in his new WXBM Chevy. Even more Bombers are expected this week, adding to the 19 on hand for opening night.

Finally, as a way of Thanking you Fans in advance for a great season, Friday Night we’ll be offering 2 for 1 admission. That’s right, 2 Grandstand Tickets for the price of 1. So invite your neighbors and your friends, and come have a blast. Skywatch Traffic reporter Kane will once again be circulating throughout the Grandstand area stirring the excitement with Fan interaction give-a-ways. And don’t forget your Fan Club coupon. It could very well be your night to win ! Even if you don’t, we’re betting you don’t leave disappointed. And on a closing note, we especially want to express our Thanks to you for doing your part in establishing 5 Flags Speedway as, AMERICA’S FAVORITE HOME TRACK!

at From Tim Bryant, Five Flags Speedway Media Pensacola, FL -April 5, 2011- WOW!
