Rain delayed the start of ASA sanctioned racing at the High Banks of DeSoto Super Speedway for just over an hour. The hard working track crew got the track dry and after a short practice session qualifying was under way for the Hoosier Elite Series Late Models.

Jeff Scofield would set down the fastest lap piloting the 92 machine of Dick Anderson with a 14.739 circuit around the 3/8-mile oval. Behind Scofield would be Joe Boyd 14.777, Anthony Campi 14.779, Tim Russell 14.791 and Steve Dorer 14.801 for the top five.

A roll of the die inverted the field four positions putting Tim Russell on the pole for the start of the race. Russell has dominated the series in 2010 and it looked like he would walk away with this one as pulled away to ¾ of a straightaway lead over second place Anthony Campi.

The race would go twenty-five laps under green and Campi picked up the pace and was knocking on the door looking for a line to get around the hard charging Russell.

Campi would keep the heat on and just before the half way mark Russell tried to thread the needle on a pair of lapped cars going into turn one and instead went around in cloud of smoke. His night would be over and he would end up a disappointing fifteenth on the night.

There was still plenty of racing in the final third of the feature as Campi held to the top spot for the win. When it came down to the final laps it was Scofield and Boyd going at it for the second position. Both drivers raced each hard but it would be Boyd taking it and Scofield finishing third. Jessie Dutilly had the crowd on their feet as battled his way to a well-earned fourth and Steve Gill would over come early problems to finish fifth.

RESULTS 9-11-10

HOOSIER ELITE SERIES SUPER LATE MODELS – 75

Finish-Start-Car-Driver-Hometown

1 3 81 Anthony Campi Sarasota , Fl

2 2 5 Joe Boyd Riverview , Fl

3 1 92 Jeff Scofield Plant City, Fl

4 8 30 Jesse Dutilly Bradenton , Fl

5 7 5X Steve Gill Sarasota , Fl

6 10 70X James Glover Pinellas Park, Fl

7 9 53 Brad Bischoff Myakka City, Fl

8 5 10 Steve Dorer Lakeland , Fl

9 11 21 James Carter Bradenton , Fl

10 16 50 Perry Lovelady Lakeland , Fl

11 15 67 Chad Allman Plant City, Fl

12 14 89 Joshua Todd Polk City, Fl

13 12 29 Tracey Raven Lakeland , Fl

14 6 88 Justin Larson Safety Harbor, Fl

15 4 36 Tim Russell Apopka , Fl

16 13 14 Martin Maresca Ft.
