dirt track racers will be at Volusia and it is going to be a fabulous twelve days. Also be sure to check race results for nightly results from Volusia Speedway Park and also East Bay Raceway Park.”

Florida Dirt Track News covers all eight (8) dirt tracks in the State of Florida from East Bay Raceway Park, Volusia Speedway Park, Ocala Speedway, Putnam County Speedway, North Florida Speedway, Hendry County Motorsports Park, Southern Raceway, and Northwest Florida Speedway. No one is left out and if they are racing, you will find race stories and results at Florida Dirt Track News.

“Being that we are a new site, everyone at all eight tracks have been very helpful getting Florida Dirt Track News off the ground. We have weekly results from the tracks and usually quite a few pictures from the races. We also have a gallery where you will find the 2009 Dirt Track Champions from a number of tracks.”

“In 2010, now that our feet are wet, Florida Dirt Track News will begin to showcase the great racers on dirt from all the tracks highlighting one racer per week. Florida Dirt Track News will also start introducing the people behind the scenes of each track from the General Managers down to the nice lady who sells you your ticket at the front gate. No one will be left out. From the lower classes to the highest classes, from the ticket lady to the Safety Crew, we want everyone to know these great guys and gals just like they do at most asphalt tracks.”

“Since I have worked with karnac.com (Florida Stock Car Racing) almost from day one when it began almost 15 years ago”, said Smith, “I know the fans know the asphalt world of racing in Florida but not much of the dirt side. My idea is that Florida race fans need to know both side of the racing world and with Florida Dirt Track News, they will now. If you say the name Tim Russell or David Rogers, fans almost instantly know who you are talking about and I want it to be the same way for Ivedent Lloyd and Dillion Wood.”

“Dirt drivers put as much hard work and tears of blood into their cars as the asphalt drivers do. They save their nickels and dimes and come each weekend and put on a great show for all the fans. In fact, I had never seen this happen before in all my years of racing, the fans actually paid the racers to race one night at Volusia Speedway Park.”

“We had not pulled enough cars to run the race that we had advertised and gave back all the fans their money because we had no show. But instead of going home like most people would do, they stayed and offered to pay to see the few cars we did have in the pits race. Eventually they paid over a thousand dollars to see two ten lap races and that is what they got. The drivers were happy to race and very grateful to the fans for putting up the purse and the fans were happy also since they got to see a race. It was one of those “win-win” situation. And after the two ten lap races, the fans stills stayed and watched as the cars went around the track practicing. But never before in my life, have I ever seen anything like that happen and it is something that I will NEVER forget”.

In 2009, Smith joined the team at Volusia Speedway Park as their Media Representative after working for many years in the asphalt world of Florida local short track racing. Smith remains the East Coast Editor for karnac.com.

“Jack Smith, owner of karnac.com, gave me a chance many years ago to write for Orlando SpeedWorld and New Smyrna Speedway. What started as a weekly race story built into many race stories and personal interviews and a deep love for local short track racing. I can tell you that my heart will always belong with karnac.com and if it was not for karnac and Jack Smith, I would have never found what God intended for me to do on this earth, write for racing”.

“When I first started at Volusia last March, I had only been to maybe a handfull of dirt races so I wasn’t use to the cars going sideways and being in control. On asphalt, if you are sideways, you are usually in trouble but that is not true on dirt. With the help of Joe Linebarrier and Tonya Moschell and Billy the Kid, I have learned a lot about dirt racing. And to be honest, I find it much more exciting now than asphalt races ever were.”

“I admit that I am still learning every race and every race I really do see new things. Dirt racing is very exciting, just when you think they are out of control, they are in total control. I admit I use to get very nervous at a dirt track because I was not use to the sideways thing but I am learning a lot and have found that dirt racing is far more exciting than asphalt racing.”

“There is an old saying, “if you can drive on dirt, you can drive on anything” and I do believe that is true now. Jeff Choquette, Rob Underwood, Pat Buckley, and now Jared Allison have all raced on asphalt and dirt. Jeff Choquette actually started on dirt as well as Rob Underwood. Choquette is now racing mostly asphalt but Underwood, Buckley and Allison are all racing this season on dirt. Underwood is the 2009 UMP DIRTcar Open Wheel Modified Champion for Volusia Speedway Park and Jared Allison is the 2009 Super Late Model Champion at Orlando SpeedWorld in Bithlo, Florida. Buckley was previously the Super Stock Champion at New Smyrna Speedway in Samsula, Florida.”

“Both Underwood and Allison run Open Wheel Modifieds at Volusia with Pat Buckley in the Street Stock division. Plus quite a few asphalt drivers have told me that they are switching to dirt this year so come March, it will feel like old home week at Volusia with quite a few of my old friends from asphalt.”

If you are interested in advertising on Florida Dirt Track News, please contact racingjls@aol.com. Since Florida Dirt Track News is so new, our advertising prices are very reasonable. Race teams, companies with parts are all welcome.

Remember, February 2nd thru February 13th, be sure to check www.floridadirttracknews.com for the latest updates from Volusia Speedway Park and for daily results from East Bay Raceway Park. Check the Bulletin Board for all updates. Plus pictures will be in the Photo Gallery from DIRTcar Winternationals and also from East Bay Raceway Park Winternatinals and any one of the eight dirt tracks with events in February.

The address is www.floridadirttracknews.com. For all the latest on Florida’s GREAT dirt tracks from the panhandle of the state to the southern end of the state, we have it all.

Merritt Island, FL (January 31, 2010) Florida’s newest website for dirt track racing, www.floridadirttracknews.com will be bringing you plenty of updates on the 39th Annual […]

[3

post-298","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-front-page-news
["GET
