CHATSWORTH, GA \u2013 John Ownbey of Cleveland, TN drove to his second career ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series South East Region win on Saturday night at North Georgia Speedway. Ownbey held of a hard charging Michael Page of Hardeeville, GA to take the victory worth $4,000.<\/p>\n
ULTIMATE SE championship contender Jason Welshan of Maryville, TN finished third in the Hidden Hollow Motorsports Longhorn, and ULTIMATE SE point leader and Autolite\/Fram\/DirtOnDirt.com Rookie of the Year point leader Tyler Millwood of Cartersville, GA took the fourth spot.<\/p>\n
Just 17 points separate the top two drivers in the 2017 ULTIMATE SE point standings after the first ten races of the season. Millwood leads the standings with 305 points and Welshan is second with 288 points. The defending and two-time ULTIMATE Champion Dennis \u201cRambo\u201d Franklin of Gaffney, SC is third with 270 points. Franklin finished 12th at North Georgia Speedway in the M&W Transport Longhorn.<\/p>\n
David Payne of Murphy, NC drove to a fifth-place finish and Ross Bailes of Clover, SC was the Hard Charger of the Race after starting 17th and finishing sixth. Kenny Collins of Colbert, GA was seventh, and Gary McPherson of Dalton, GA took the eighth spot. Heath Hindman of Signal Mountain, TN finished ninth and Colby Kilgore of Dalton, GA rounded out the top ten.<\/p>\n
In preliminary action, McPherson was the $200 M&W Transport \u201cHaulin\u2019 It\u201d Fast Qualifier with a lap around North Georgia Speedway in 14.472 seconds. The eight-lap B-Main Race was won by Tod Hernandez of Chattanooga, TN.<\/p>\n
The next event for the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series South East Region will be on Saturday night, June 24 at Dublin Motor Speedway in Dublin, NC for the $5,000-to-win, $400-to-start Rattlesnake Shake.<\/p>\n
