{"id":23887,"date":"2016-07-18T20:36:42","date_gmt":"2016-07-18T20:36:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/?p=23887"},"modified":"2016-07-18T20:36:42","modified_gmt":"2016-07-18T20:36:42","slug":"riley-hickman-captures-magnolia-speedway-governors-cup-southern-all-star-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/front-page-news\/riley-hickman-captures-magnolia-speedway-governors-cup-southern-all-star-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Riley Hickman Captures Magnolia Speedway Governors Cup Southern All Star Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-23888\" src=\"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Riley-Hickman-Magnolia-500x294.jpg\" alt=\"Riley Hickman Magnolia\" width=\"500\" height=\"294\" \/>COLUMBUS, MS \u2013 The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series returned to the Magnolia Speedway in Columbus, MS., for its annual visit at the 13<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Cliburn Truck Lines Governors Cup and three time Southern All Star series champion Riley Hickman of Cleveland, TN., got win #2 on the season and also a $5,000 payday in the 50 lap main.<\/p>\n<p>In SUNOCO Race Fuels qualifying Batesville, AR., driver Wendell Wallace and Hickman were fast qualifiers in their respective groups with Wallace setting overall fast time with a `14.561 lap to Hickman\u2019s 14.669 lap.<\/p>\n<p>Wallace took the lead at the start and was looking to be the man to beat as he stretched out to half a straight lead over Hickman, Jack Sullivan, Eric Cooley and David Breazeale.\u00a0 Then on lap seven trouble came as the car of Ashton\u00a0 Winger spun in turn one and right in front of the leaders and Wallace had no place to go as he clipped Winger\u2019s car ending his night, along with Brett White and Cale Finley.\u00a0 Wallace went to the pits for repairs and returned to the tail end of the field and charged back to a 10<sup>th<\/sup> place finish.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This gave the lead to Hickman with Sullivan in second and Cooley third, this trio would then put on a show through the mid stages of the race as they raced each other side by side in and out of lapped traffic, swapping the lead back and forth several times till the last caution of the night appeared on lap 26 for Todd Morrow slowing on the track ending his night.<\/p>\n<p>Hickman lead the field for the remaining 24 laps and held off several more challenges by Sullivan for his 6<sup>th<\/sup> career win, Sullivan of Greenbrier, AR., drove a great race and came up short and finished second for his best career run with the series, third went to David Breazeale of Starkville, MS., fourth to Dane Dacus of Lakeland, TN., from his 13<sup>th<\/sup> starting spot, and fifth place to Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Rasdon of Jonesboro, AR., started 22<sup>nd<\/sup> and came home in the 6<sup>th<\/sup> spot, seventh went to Shay Knight of Columbus, MS., from his 17<sup>th<\/sup> starting spot, eighth place went to Dylan Ames of Harvest, AL., ninth to Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, TN., who started in the 20<sup>th<\/sup> spot and Wallace finished 10<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series Magnolia Speedway would like to thank the fans &amp;
