{"id":22134,"date":"2015-04-02T21:25:01","date_gmt":"2015-04-02T21:25:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/?p=22134"},"modified":"2015-04-02T21:25:01","modified_gmt":"2015-04-02T21:25:01","slug":"easter-egg-hunt-and-plenty-of-racing-on-tap-saturday-night-at-new-smyrna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/front-page-news\/easter-egg-hunt-and-plenty-of-racing-on-tap-saturday-night-at-new-smyrna\/","title":{"rendered":"EASTER EGG HUNT AND PLENTY OF RACING ON TAP SATURDAY NIGHT AT NEW SMYRNA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-21368\" src=\"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/NSS-Logo-Small-275x57.jpg\" alt=\"NSS Logo Small\" width=\"275\" height=\"57\" \/>Week four of the NASCAR Whelen All America Racing Series at New Smyrna<br \/>\nSpeedway will provide lots of fun for the kids plus some great action for the<br \/>\nfans provided by the Pro Late Models, Sportsman Cars, Modifieds and the<br \/>\nBombers.<br \/>\nA big Easter Egg Hunt will be held for the kids during intermission sponsored<br \/>\nby the fine folks with Central Florida Racing Ministries who organize events<br \/>\nand crafts for the young ones throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nThe Pro Late Model point standings are being led by Deland&#8217;s Rich Clouser on<br \/>\nthe strength of his opening night win and a second place finish two weeks ago.<br \/>\nClouser has a five point advantage over rookie Blake Cejner and is seven<br \/>\nmarkers up on Zach Jarrell.\u00a0 Ray Black, Jr. of Palm Coast won the feature on<br \/>\nMarch 21 but plans to run sparingly at New Smyrna this season as he is now<br \/>\nrunning full-time with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series where he is<br \/>\ncurrently seventh in points.\u00a0 The NASCAR Trucks are off this week, so Black<br \/>\nwill have the chance to go back-to-back in the Pro Lates if he wishes to give<br \/>\nit a try again this week.<br \/>\nThe Sportsman class is looking to be New Smyrna&#8217;s &#8220;premiere&#8221; division this<br \/>\nyear as 19 cars have showed for each of their first two nights of racing with<br \/>\nseveral teams yet to make their debut.\u00a0 The early-season point race could not<br \/>\nbe any closer as Apopka&#8217;s Junior Beckner holds a one point edge over three<br \/>\ndrivers who are tied for second &#8211; John Emerson, Richard Goodrich and March 21<br \/>\nwinner George Gorham, Jr. who is coming off a big win at Orlando SpeedWorld<br \/>\nlast Sunday.\u00a0 Defending track champion Donny Williams is just three points<br \/>\nbehind Beckner along with Mike Pletka.\u00a0 Expect another big field of Sportsman<br \/>\nthis week including the usual &#8220;herd&#8221; of Jim Daley\/Sandy Lee-owned cars<br \/>\nheadquartered at Sheppard Racing Enterprises in Deland.<br \/>\nJerry &#8220;The Hammer&#8221; Symons of New Smyrna Beach is in his usual spot in the<br \/>\nModified point standings&#8230; first&#8230; but he has loads of challengers nipping<br \/>\nat his brake pads including opening night winner Ricky Moxley of Hobe Sound<br \/>\nwho has a new car being put together by Wayne Anderson up in Wildwood to add<br \/>\nto his arsenal of race cars.\u00a0 Moxley is five points behind Symons after two<br \/>\nweeks of racing while Tank Tucker is third in the standings, seven markers out<br \/>\nof first.\u00a0 Once again, Joe Jacolone of Jacolone Enterprises Auto Sales in St.<br \/>\nAugustine is putting up a $100 &#8220;Hard Charger Award.&#8221;\u00a0 That award was claimed<br \/>\nlast time by New Smyrna&#8217;s Matt Wheeler who plans to be in the field again<br \/>\nSaturday night.<br \/>\nThe Bomber class has Orlando&#8217;s &#8220;Shockwave&#8221; Shane Sutorus sitting atop the<br \/>\nstandings after three race nights.\u00a0 Sutorus has just a one point edge over<br \/>\nJames Skinner while Aaron Overman is ten points back in third.<br \/>\nPit gates open Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm with practice slated from 5-6:30<br \/>\npm.\u00a0 Grandstand gates open at 6 pm and racing gets under way at 7:30 pm<br \/>\nstarting with 8-lap heat races for the Modifieds, Sportsman and Bombers.\u00a0 The<br \/>\nbig Easter Egg Hunt will take place during intermission, so make sure to bring<br \/>\nthe kids this week!\u00a0 Following intermission the Modifieds will be first up for<br \/>\n25 laps followed by 25-lap contests for the Pro Late Models and Sportsman<br \/>\ncars.\u00a0 The Bombers round out the evening of racing with a 20 lap event.<br \/>\nAdult admission is $15 with all seniors (65+) and military with ID being<br \/>\nadmitted for $13.
