{"id":20126,"date":"2013-10-09T15:03:40","date_gmt":"2013-10-09T15:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/?p=20126"},"modified":"2013-10-09T15:03:40","modified_gmt":"2013-10-09T15:03:40","slug":"history-to-be-made-this-weekend-at-magnolia-motor-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/front-page-news\/history-to-be-made-this-weekend-at-magnolia-motor-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"History to be Made this Weekend at Magnolia Motor Speedway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-17335\" style=\"border: 2px solid black;\" alt=\"headerimage2\" src=\"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/headerimage2-395x181.jpg\" width=\"395\" height=\"181\" \/>Columbus, Mississippi (10\/08\/13) This weekend,\u00a0October 10th-12th, racers and race fans, who attend Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) will be a part of history as two great races from the state of Mississippi come together for one mega event with the inaugural Magnolia State Cotton Pickin\u2019 100.<\/p>\n<p>For over twenty years the Magnolia State 100 hosted some of the most exciting racing of the year in Mississippi.\u00a0 After a few years away, event founder, Dewitt Singleton has brought the race back as a combined effort with Johnny Stokes&#8217; annual Cotton Pickin&#8217; 100.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For various reasons we didn&#8217;t have the Magnolia State 100 last year, but I really like what Johnny is doing at Magnolia Motor Speedway, and I thought it would be a great idea to try and combine both races,&#8221; notes Singleton.\u00a0 &#8220;There are so many late-season races in this region that it just didn&#8217;t make sense to hold the Magnolia State 100 separately from the Cotton Pickin.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For Johnny Stokes the combined effort is a no brainer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It takes a lot of work and time to make these big races happen, and it makes life a little easier having Dewitt and his crew working along with myself and my great crew here at Magnolia Motor Speedway,&#8221; comments Stokes.\u00a0 &#8220;Plus we&#8217;ve actually been able to increase the purse this year, while bringing the Magnolia State 100 name back into the fold.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a lot of excitement among racers and fans for this reinvigorated event.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A strong field of Super Late Model pilots, representing more than ten states, have already voiced an intent to take part in the $20,000-to-win event including John Blankenship, Bobby Pierce, Clint Smith, Jack Sullivan, Jimmy Owens, Klint Byars, Bub McCool, Don O&#8217;Neal, Chris Wall, David Breazeale, Mike Marlar, Timothy Culp, Wendell Wallace, Rick Rickman, Brian Rickman, Billy Moyer Jr., Kyle Beard, Chris Brown, Dane Dacus, Eric Cooley, Neil Baggett and many more.<\/p>\n<p>The 2013 Magnolia State Cotton Pickin\u2019 100 will be headlined by a $20,000-to-win\/$1,200-to-<wbr \/>start, 100 lap Super Late Model event. NeSmith Late Models will also qualify and run heat races. MSSS Street Stocks will also run their heats.<\/p>\n<p>B-Mains for all divisions will be contested\u00a0on Saturday\u00a0night along with Mini Stocks heat races and the Magnolia State Cotton Pickin\u2019 100 Championships Main Event Races.<\/p>\n<p>Also,\u00a0on Saturday\u00a0the Alan East Racer&#8217;s Fund Free Fish Fry lunch will be held, and volunteers will be accepting donations for the fund to raise money to provide monetary assistance for racers, crew, or racing community in the event of an injury, etc.\u00a0 There will also be a Silent\u00a0 Auction for autographed doors from race cars, to raise money for the fund.\u00a0 Doors will be on display prior to auction time. Doors from top drivers in the country and plus locals.\u00a0 The lunch will be served at\u00a0noon on Saturday\u00a0with the Silent Auction\u00a04pm. A hayride for the kids with candy and treats will be held\u00a0on Saturday at 5:30pmSharp.<\/p>\n<p>Trackside parking is available for an additional $30 in any unreserved spot.
