{"id":19729,"date":"2013-09-03T20:27:53","date_gmt":"2013-09-03T20:27:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/?p=19729"},"modified":"2013-09-03T20:27:53","modified_gmt":"2013-09-03T20:27:53","slug":"billy-ogle-jr-best-in-sas-racing-series-buddy-rogers-memorial-at-tazewell-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/front-page-news\/billy-ogle-jr-best-in-sas-racing-series-buddy-rogers-memorial-at-tazewell-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"Billy Ogle, Jr. Best in SAS Racing Series Buddy Rogers Memorial at Tazewell Speedway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-19730\" style=\"border: 2px solid black;\" alt=\"taz4\" src=\"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/taz4-500x300.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" \/>Tazewell, TN-September 1, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series kicked off a busy month of September\u00a0on Sunday\u00a0evening at Gary Hall\u2019s Tazewell Speedway with the 5th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial event and Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN would take the victory and $4,400 payday in the 44 lap main event contested in memory of the former East Tennessee racer.\u00a0 The win for Ogle, Jr. came aboard the Blount Motorsports owned Blount Excavating\/Massey Electric\/Al Blankenship Enterprises\/Cherokee Millwright\/Stowers CAT sponsored #201 Rocket Chassis powered by a Vic Hill Race Engine.<\/p>\n<p>The victory by the former series champion was his third Southern All Star Racing Series victory of 2013 and 11th overall for his career in SAS Racing Series competition.\u00a0 Ogles, Jr.\u2019s previous wins this season have come at Tazewell in April and Volunteer Speedway in August.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It would be an all Clinton, TN front row as Jeff Wolfenbarger and Stacey Boles would bring the field to the green flag in the 44 lap, $4,400 to win 5th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial A-Main, with Boles immediately grabbing the race lead and would set a torrid pace at the point.\u00a0 Boles would start lapping slower traffic by lap 6 and had driven to almost a full straightaway lead ahead of Billy Ogle, Jr.\u00a0 Boles would encounter a close call in traffic on lap 15 and damaged the right side of his entry, but maintained the lead as the first caution appeared when then fourth place running Jeff Wolfenbarger slowed on the track.\u00a0 The rapid pace by Boles only left 10 laps on the lead at the lap 17 restart and Ogle, Jr. would begin to challenge Boles for the lead and would make the pass exiting turn four on lap 21 for the lead.\u00a0 Caution would slow the pace one lap later when Mark Rosner of Rockford, TN slowed in turn three and only four more laps would be completed before a caution for debris waved on lap 26.\u00a0 Ogle, Jr. would maintain the top spot on the restart, while Vic Hill o Mosheim, TN would wrestle the second spot away from Boles and Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN would take third from Boles on lap 30.\u00a0 Ogle, Jr. would work traffic masterfully over the final 10 laps to pick up a popular victory with the Tazewell Speedway faithful.\u00a0 Hill and Kerr would take second and third positions, while Boles and Bryan Hendrix of Knoxville, TN would complete the top five.<\/p>\n<p>The remainder of the top ten finishers in the 5th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial would be Daniel Baggerly of Rural Retreat, VA, series points leader Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN, Jeff Wolfenbarger, Jason Trammell of Powell, TN, and Josh Henry of Newport, TN.<\/p>\n<p>The next Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series event is on\u00a0Saturday September 7\u00a0at Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL.\u00a0 The event is the Crimson and White 50 and will pay $5,000 to win and $300 to start.<\/p>\n<p>Further information on the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series can be obtained by calling General Manager Lynn Acklin at (256) 924-4546, Race Director Chris Tilley at (606) 219-1723 or you can log on to the official series website at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sasdirt.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.sasdirt.com<\/a>\u00a0.
