{"id":19206,"date":"2013-08-05T16:32:02","date_gmt":"2013-08-05T16:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/?p=19206"},"modified":"2013-08-05T16:32:41","modified_gmt":"2013-08-05T16:32:41","slug":"billy-ogle-jr-bags-sas-racing-series-collinsledford-memorial-at-volunteer-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/front-page-news\/billy-ogle-jr-bags-sas-racing-series-collinsledford-memorial-at-volunteer-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"Billy Ogle, Jr. Bags SAS Racing Series Collins\/Ledford Memorial at Volunteer Speedway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-19208 alignleft\" style=\"border: 2px solid black;\" alt=\"winner080313\" src=\"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/winner0803131-500x332.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Bulls Gap, TN-August 3, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series would makes its second visit of the 2013 season to Volunteer Speedway\u00a0on Saturday\u00a0evening for the Herman Collins\/Dewey \u201cRed\u201d Ledford Memorial event and Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN would score the win in a thrilling event.\u00a0 Ogle, Jr. would pick up the victory in the Larry Garner owned Blount Motorsports\/Blount Excavating\/ Massey Electric\/Al Blankenship Enterprises\/Stowers CAT Machinery\/Cherokee Millwright sponsored #201 Rocket Chassis which sports a Vic Hill Race Engine beneath the hood.<\/p>\n<p>The victory by Ogle, Jr., 48 years of age, was his second Southern All Star Racing Series victory of the 2013 season and his tenth career win with the Southern All Star Racing Series, who owns the 2011 SAS Racing Series championship.<\/p>\n<p>Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN would jump to the lead at the start of the event and set a blistering pace, although the event would be slowed by three caution periods during the first 13 laps of the contest.\u00a0 Ogle, Jr. would settle into the second position after the lap 13 restart and he and Hill would pull away from the rest of the pack, which would be led by third place running Stacy Boles of Clinton, TN.\u00a0 As the front pair caught a group of heavy traffic by lap 26, Ogle, Jr. would close in on Hill and the pair would engage in a classic side-by-side struggle for the lead beginning on lap 30 and ending on lap 34 when Ogle, Jr. secured the lead for good.<!--more-->\u00a0 Ogle, Jr. would build a comfortable lead only to see that margin erased as a late race caution with five laps remaining bunched the field back together for one last time.\u00a0 However, Ogle, Jr. would show his strength again on the restart and ease away from the field and secure the victory.\u00a0 Hill would take runner-up honors, while Boles would finish in the third position.\u00a0 Chad Ogle of Sevierville, TN would finish in the fourth position, while Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN would be the final finisher in the top five.<\/p>\n<p>The remainder of the top ten finishers in the Herman Collins\/Dewey \u201cRed\u201d Ledford Memorial would be Mark Douglas of Knoxville, TN, Bryan Hendrix of Knoxville, TN, Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN, Allen Champ of Morristown, TN, and Barrett Lowe of Asheville, NC.<\/p>\n<p>The next Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series events are on\u00a0Friday August 9\u00a0at Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA and on Saturday August 10 at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park GA.\u00a0 Those event are the Georgia Madness doubleheader weekend and each event will pay $4,000 to win and $300 to start.<\/p>\n<p>Further information on the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series can be obtained by calling General Manager Lynn Acklin at (256) 924-4546, Race Director Chris Tilley at (606) 219-1723 or you can log on to the official series website at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sasdirt.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.sasdirt.com<\/a>\u00a0.
