{"id":17426,"date":"2013-04-08T18:35:25","date_gmt":"2013-04-08T18:35:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/?p=17426"},"modified":"2013-04-08T18:35:25","modified_gmt":"2013-04-08T18:35:25","slug":"black-tops-legend-cars-frye-fries-super-stock-field-as-orlando-speedworld-opens-2013-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/front-page-news\/black-tops-legend-cars-frye-fries-super-stock-field-as-orlando-speedworld-opens-2013-season\/","title":{"rendered":"BLACK TOPS LEGEND CARS &#8211; FRYE FRIES SUPER STOCK FIELD AS ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD OPENS 2013 SEASON"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[slideshow id=2]Orlando SpeedWorld returned to action Friday night and fans were treated to a<br \/>\ngood night of racing despite some unseasonably chilly temperatures and a cold<br \/>\nwind.<br \/>\nA dozen Legend Cars made the trip to the high-banked three-eighths mile with<br \/>\nDakota Baggette and Jordan Black winning the pair of heat races.<br \/>\nDave &#8220;Too Tall&#8221; Gleason grabbed the early advantage at the start of the 25-lap<br \/>\nfeature but caution flew at the end of lap one for a three car tangle in turn<br \/>\none involving Robbie Lyons, Tony Steinbuck and Joey Langis. \u00a0Lyons got a good<br \/>\npiece of the concrete and was eliminated from competition while Steinbuck and<br \/>\nLangis continued.<br \/>\nBaggette sped around Gleason on the restart and began to build a good-sized<br \/>\nlead while Black got around Gleason for third on the fifth lap and set sail<br \/>\nafter the leader. \u00a0Black was on a rail and passed Baggette for the top spot on<br \/>\nlap 14, then led the remaining distance to score the victory. \u00a0Baggette<br \/>\nclaimed second with Gleason third. \u00a0Becca Monopoli made a late pass to take<br \/>\nfourth spot ahead of Keith Sinkula. \u00a0Donovan Ponder took the checker in sixth<br \/>\nwith Noah Cornman, Steinbuck, Langis, Ted Ruffo, Roger Englund and Lyons<br \/>\nrounding out the finishers.<!--more--><br \/>\nAfter Jeff Cuddy led the opening lap of the Super Stock Feature, Danny Frye<br \/>\nclaimed the front spot and led the remaining distance despite constant<br \/>\npressure from heat winner Donny Funk. \u00a0Frye, who appeared to have half the<br \/>\nfans in the grandstands wildly rooting for him, took a close win over Funk and<br \/>\nhard-charging Bobby Cuddy. \u00a0Young Michael Held did a superb job coming back<br \/>\nfrom a lap four spin to take fourth spot over Ernie Tuminello. \u00a0Rounding out<br \/>\nthe top-ten were Brandon Christian, Art Hendren, Jeff Cuddy, Denny Snyder and<br \/>\nWarren Schurr.<br \/>\nAlan Bruns overcame a problem with a broken shifter to top the Pro Late Model<br \/>\nfeature after a good battle with Rickey Moxley who settled for second spot<br \/>\nahead of Tommy Mackey. \u00a0Zach Harris led the first lap of the feature but<br \/>\nmechanical woes put him in the pits before the completion of the event. \u00a0Bruns<br \/>\nalso won the heat race.<br \/>\nBiggest surprise of the night came in the Sportsman class as Daniel Conlin,<br \/>\nJr., making his first-ever start in a full-bodied race car, won the Sportsman<br \/>\nfeature going away. \u00a0The young driver, who raced Bandoleros and Legend Cars<br \/>\nhere over the last few years, made it look easy as he won by a large margin.<br \/>\nTrailing Conlin to the checker were heat race winner Richard Fiore, Ron<br \/>\nGustafson, early leader Derrick Wood and Donny Funk.<br \/>\nMatt Jarrett also scored a runaway victory in the E-Modified class as he led<br \/>\nevery lap to take the win over Earl Beckner, Bruce Packer and Roger Benton.<br \/>\nBeckner won the heat race but his car appeared to be extremely loose in the<br \/>\nfeature after the weather turned cooler. \u00a0John Hodge missed the show after<br \/>\nblowing an engine in hot laps.<br \/>\nShane Sutorus topped the Strictly Stock feature after taking the lead from Jim<br \/>\n&#8220;Crusher&#8221; Erb on lap ten and they finished in that order in front of a<br \/>\nfast-closing Wes Railing, Jr. who had to settle for third. \u00a0Fourth went to the<br \/>\n&#8220;Big Bad Buick&#8221; of Zach Curtis with Luis Guillen fifth. \u00a0Completing the<br \/>\nfinishers were Eddie Moran, Donald Springer and Tyler Jewer. Sutorus also won<br \/>\nthe heat.<br \/>\nSam Cornman came home victorious in the very competitive Bandolero feature,<br \/>\npassing Brett Suggs on the final lap. \u00a0Suggs spun out coming to the checker<br \/>\nallowing heat winner \u00a0Ryan Pierce to take second. \u00a0David Owen was third ahead<br \/>\nof Colton Bramlett and Suggs.<br \/>\nThis Friday night, April 12, The Super Late Models are at SpeedWorld for a<br \/>\n100-lap event as part of the Brighthouse Challenge Series.
