{"id":1541,"date":"2010-05-18T01:56:22","date_gmt":"2010-05-18T01:56:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/?p=1541"},"modified":"2010-05-18T01:56:22","modified_gmt":"2010-05-18T01:56:22","slug":"teens-admitted-free-this-saturday-at-volusia-speedway-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karnac.com\/flanews\/upcoming-events\/teens-admitted-free-this-saturday-at-volusia-speedway-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Teens Admitted Free This Saturday at Volusia Speedway Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: #000000; font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: #000000; font-size: x-small;\"><strong>by VSP Media<\/strong><\/p>\n<div><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>BARBERVILLE, FL-\u00a0 Volusia Speedway Park is back in action again this Saturday night, and putting the focus on our younger races fans.\u00a0 Saturday has been designated as Teen Night at VSP with all persons 17 and under admitted free of charge.\u00a0 The teenagers will be provided with their own special sections where they can socialize with each other and enjoy the action on the track, plus there will be teen oriented giveaways, contests, and more.<\/p>\n<p>After a weekend off the Budweiser Modifieds will be back on the track as Jamie Carter looks to stay ahead of Jeff &#8220;Repo Man&#8221; Mathews in the points race.\u00a0 Mathews got the better of Carter in the last outing back on May 1st, narrowing Carter&#8217;s advantage to only 55 points.\u00a0 Kent Corbin also had a good showing in that race, as did &#8220;The Underdog&#8221; Rob Underwood, which leaves Corbin in fourth place in the points while Underwood is currently sixth.<\/p>\n<p>Aaron Barsness notched himself a Taylor Racing Products Sportsman win last Saturday night while Shaun Daugharty finished in third place.\u00a0 That narrows the points gap between Barsness and Daugharty to just 10 going into this week&#8217;s race, and sets the stage for Barsness to possibly gain more ground if not take the lead.\u00a0 Meanwhile, Stanton Mills has come alive as of late and is shaking things up at the top, as he finished in second place last weekend.\u00a0 Mills could become a wild card in the race even though he is 345 points out of first place for the season, as the guys at the top have to deal with him as well as each other.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Belkey has had some time away from Volusia Speedway Park and the Daytona Sportswear Street Stocks, and most of it was not his idea.\u00a0 But apparently he used that time effectively because he returned on Saturday night and scored his first win of the 2010 racing season.\u00a0 Meanwhile\u00a0Phillip Brown\u00a0hangs onto the points lead by a fingertip as Tim Hughes used a sixth place finish to draw within one point of him, and may well pass him this Saturday night.\u00a0 But Brown and Hughes had better keep an eye peeled behind them while they battle in the points race, as Trevor Gamble is just 18 points shy of passing the entire top three.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Scott Mooers has dominated the Amsoil Synthetic Lubricants Thunder Stocks so far in 2010, and from the look of things his 156 point lead may already be too tough to tackle.\u00a0 But while Mooers dominated the race this past Saturday night, Matt Schell finally broke free of traffic and was chasing him down when he ran out of laps, so Mooers may not be as ironclad as some may think.\u00a0 Another threat at the top could be Austin Kirkpatrick, who has\u00a0put himself\u00a0into position to do damage but\u00a0then gets hobbled\u00a0by breakdowns and bad luck.\u00a0 Kirkpatrick ran well on Saturday night after yet another mechanical failure during his heat race put him deep in the field for the feature, and yet he managed a third place finish and was gaining on Schell and Mooers.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn &#8220;Beavis&#8221; Kosier got to enjoy some time at the top of the 4 Cylinder Challengers before his luck changed, then it was Casey Feaster who enjoyed some time in Victory Lane.\u00a0 Meanwhile Tony Laporta has been all but absent from the races as he has fought his way through mechanical issues, but he made quite a return last Saturday night by racing to a win and celebrating in Victory Lane.\u00a0 Kosier&#8217;s luck may have changed a bit, but he still hangs onto the top spot in the points race with R.J.
