With the 3 regular divisions making up a feature from mid-July in addition to a regular night of racing it was the most exciting racing of 2012.

First up was the Hobby Stock make-up race with Scott Haas the leader from outside pole as a caution came out for Chad Scranton’s flattened right rear tire. Sean Monaghan had a tough opening to the race as he hit everything but the pace car before he stopped and brought the 2nd caution out. Rodney Wright would steal the lead out of turn 4 on the restart while Tim Powers attempted to swallow Haas up. Chad Scranton methodically worked through the field and was up to P4 after Haas retired just past halfway. Wright and Powers fought like brothers over the last dozen laps. Rodney Wright won the fight with Powers 2nd. Trevor Gamble was nearly a lap down in 3rd with Chad Scranton and Hunter Gustafson a lap down in 4th and 5th, respectively.

The 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stock make-up feature was caution filled and it all started on lap 5 when David Kinsey smacked the wall on a restart and stopped on the backstretch. Plenty of other cautions bunched up the field behind Rick Kilbury. The lap 13 caution for James Sullivan, III was a heart-breaker after he ran 2nd for a long time. That caution set up Kilbury’s heartbreak as he broke the left wheel off coming to the white flag. Chad Scranton led 2 laps all night and took home the cool $1000 with Alan Lane a smooth 2nd, Brian Mullins 3rd, John Thorpe and impressive 4th, and William Gillam in 5th. However, in Tech the #05 of Lane was found illegal for the night which moved up the field and put Brandon Elwood into the top 5.

The Rent-N-Roll Gladiators make-up race was a 10-lap caution-free event. Steve Johnson led early but on lap 3 Brandon Haseleu made the winning move and never looked back. Tony LaPorta finished a strong 2nd with Johnson, Kody Fisher, and Reid Christensen the top 5.

Hobby Stock feature #2 started with the rain that lasted less than 5 minutes. Rodney Wright jumped to an easy lead until Mick Kulak slid into the infield on lap 7. Under caution the #99 of Wright had a right front tire go flat leaving Tim Powers, DJ Nobles, and Scott Haas as the top 3. Nobles would blow it up on the restart moving Joe Boyd into the top 3. Rodney Wright hit the wall on lap 9 (after a rain delay) ending his night early. Tim Powers took an easy win with Joe Boyd, Trevor Gamble, Mick Kulak, and Sean Monaghan the top 5.

On lap 3 of the 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stock feature Alan Lane spun Marco Reyes to bring the caution out. Both would go to the tail. Plenty of other cautions marred the race but not William Gillam’s spirit. Gillam led the first half of the race but James Erickson led the half that mattered. Gillam went P2 with Brian Mullins 3rd. Eddie Woodall went an astounding 4th and Alan Lane rebounded to 5th. Of course, Lane was illegal, so 5th went to Jeff Baer.

The Rent-N-Roll Gladiators started with Brandon Haseleu jump to the lead from pole and he never relinquished it. Even the lap 8 caution for Tonya Sowles couldn’t stop him as he beat Steve Johnson, Tony LaPorta, Jordan McMillon, and Brian Thorpe for the win.

The Powder Puff Derby saw Codie Carroll beat Jody Hofaeker in a battle of the Thunder Stocks up front. Brenda Walker finished 3rd and was best in-class as she fought in a Gladiator.

The Demolition Derby began while Dakota Bare fought the team-mates but came up short. Jeff Cox finished runner-up to his team-mate Todd Cox.

Next week-end is a 2-day event for the Modifieds in the PJ Wiggins Memorial. They also will finish the Florida State Modified Championship on Friday. Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks for $1000, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators also join them.
