RaceCar Engineering Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators also put on a wonderful night of racing.

Wiener Nationals were very exciting but no one could catch Wilhelm “Willie” Linebarier as he took title #4 with ease over a strong group of dogs including 2nd place Gator from the Sullivan Racing group and the 3rd placed Hammond Motorsports’ non-breed winner Lexi.

Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds started with Jeff Mathews leading a 1-2 for Mathews Motorsports. We’d go 3 laps before Bubba Christian spun on the backstretch. Dalton Lanich and Garret Stewart made contact on the restart which left Lanich very slow (though he would continue on) and stacked up Jim Passino, Gary Sexton, Wayne Hammond, Bubba Christian, and Chuck Gustafson, Jr. Mathews Motorsports led with Mathews leading Lloyd and Kyle Bronson sat in 3rd. On lap 10 Lloyd’s run ended when the #33L appeared to cut a right rear tire down and stopped in turn 1. Mathews would continue the chase as Bronson and Garret Stewart chased while Lloyd would have to come through the pack. On lap 17 Jim Passino, returning from his sabbatical, spun at the entrance to turn 3 which would give Bronson another shot at Mathews and give Dalton Lanich hope. Bronson used muscle in turn 4 to lead lap 21 before he lost handle and gave it back in turn 2. Mathews would take his first of 2012 over Bronson, Lloyd, Lanich, and Buzzie Reutimann in a thriller.

Hobby Stocks went 2nd in a 15-lapper to end the Summer Stretch. DJ Nobles led the first 2 but “Ragin” Rodney Wright took the lead as he fights for the title. On lap 3 Trevor Gamble spun from 4th out of turn 4. Eric Moon fell out with 1 lap to go which ghave Gamble a shot at Wright but it was no good. Wright won over Gamble, a very strong Hunter Gustafson, Mike Stalnaker, and DJ Nobles.

RaceCar Engineering Late Models put on a 25-lapper with Mark Whitener the early leader from outside pole. On lap 7 Len Parrish spun as the leaders attempted to lap him; Whitener got insignificant damage while Bo Allen was nearly taken out. Those 2 were 1-2 with Jeff Mathews stalking in 3rd. Bo Allen stole the lead out of 4 as a caution came out for a drive shaft out of Dalton Meyers’ #54. However, at the line Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. had found the lead with Allen still 2nd and Whitener in an unfamiliar 3rd. The race went green from there but it was #21 up front as Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. schooled the field. Mark Whitener, Jeff Mathews, Bo Allen, and Richard Ferry rounded out the top 5.

1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks were shortened to 15 laps as many cautions hindered advancement. Taylor Gant led lap 1 from the pole but the other 14 went to James Erickson. As the race went on Rick Kilbury climbed to the front and would finish 2nd. William Gillam finished 3rd from outside pole as he had a career night. “Hothead” Brian Mullins took home another top 5 as he finished 4th which is why he leads the title fight. Jack Pate finished 5th in his debut of 2012 at Bubba Raceway Park.

Rent-N-Roll Gladiators went 13-laps caution-free before Nick Zackery stopped in turn 2. Brandon Haseleu cut a tire before the caution after he dominated the event which allowed Steve Johnson to steal one on the restart. Johnson took the chance and picked up win #2 of 2012. Jordan McMillon went home a quiet 2nd while Haseleu, Kody Fisher, and Danny Brown completed the top 5.

Next week Bubba Raceway Park takes a break for the Labor Day holiday! We return on September 8th when the Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators make-up their feature from the July 21 rain-out. They will also run Heats and a 2nd Feature! As those 3 put on fantastic races the Powder Puff Derby and Demolition Derby will make it the best show of the year!
