Pope promptly lost the left rear wheel on lap 2 and collected Shirlene Hammond, Charlie Staats, and “Rockin” Reid Christensen. Only Pope would retire as he left Zach Amundsen the lead. Christensen spun on lap 11 which allowed the Staats boys and Nick Kerr to catch up with driver #20. He held ‘em off with Travis Staats 2nd, Charlie 3rd, Nick Kerr 4th, and “Rockin” Reid in 5th. Amundsen’s #20 was found illegal, however, which gave Travis Staats the win! Hammond would jump up to 5th with that.

On lap 5 of the Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models leader David Showers saw his #18 go up in flames bringing out the red flag. Showers was okay but the car would not continue. Phillip Cobb, Forrest Gough, and Carter Stokes would inherit the top 3 spots. On lap 13 Ricky Land blew up the 66 giving Nobles a shot at Cobb. Nobles made a pass for the lead on lap 14 and just as Cobb crossed over the yellow flew for a turn 2 spin by “Rowdy” Denica Hetznecker. As a storm brewed the pass for the lead was the winning move- Nobles was the winner!!! Cobb an unbelievable 2nd, Stokes 3rd, Gough in 4th, and David Showers, Jr. a wonderful 5th. Moments after the big lap 14 pass the thunder roared sending fans into a frenzy for cover. The race was immediately given the checkered flag.

The racing was called for the night as lakes formed everywhere on the track with massive rain storms. We will run the 40-lap Modified feature on September 14th, the date set for the 2nd Annual PJ Wiggins Memorial!

Next week the Top Gun Sprint Cars return!
