The 4/10th mile facility has played host to just two PASS South Series events prior to this weekend race. Both drivers that have landed in victory lane at Motor Mile are not expected to be in attendance leaving the door wide open for each and every driver this weekend at the Virginia track.

The combination of the 15 degree banking in the turns and relatively fresh asphalt make for one fast track unlike any other that the series races at all season long. Drivers will battle for positioning throughout the race along the bottom groove making for some great racing much like it did a season ago. Last season Ben Rowe and Jay Fogleman battled lap after lap side-by-side over the final twenty-five laps for one of the best races of the season. Jay Fogleman once again see’s that Motor Mile could put on just as good show this season.

“Motor Mile is one of the best facilities we travel to all season long so it’s a place that I really enjoy racing at. The amount of grip there allows you to move around a bit, but the bottom groove is the fast way around,” mentioned Fogleman. “I think you’ll see guys that like to go hard early on battle hard to get down to the bottom while their tires are fresh in order to do some passing. That’s usually not my style so I’ll just let them go until they use up their tires and really have something for them in the final twenty-five laps or so.”

That approach from veteran guys like Preston Peltier, championship points leader Brandon Ward, and the above mentioned Jay Fogleman has really transferred to rookie drivers such as Nate Caruth. Caruth, driving for Brad Keselowski Racing, has hit the switch of success after struggling to start off the 2012 season. The young Iowa dirt modified racer turned super late model competitor has had a sixth, a pair of fifth place finishes, and a career best of fourth most recently at Anderson in the series last outing to jumpstart his career. With a majority of the field expected to be in attendance this weekend having had little experience at the Motor Mile track just as Caruth a level playing field may be what he needs to turn those top five runs to a win.

John Batten, Gray Gaulding, Tim Pinion, and Ross Kenseth are additional drivers that have filed their entries for this weekend Motor Mile 150. Only Kenseth of the above mentioned drivers has found his way to victory lane leaving the others looking on the outside looking in when discussing wins. With a little luck and a lot of power to the rear wheels I’m sure the others hope to add their name to discussions amongst series fans as a 2012 race winner at the end of 150 laps at the Motor Mile Speedway this Saturday night.

The “BIG BOYS WITH THE BAD FASTTOYS” PASS South Super Late Model Series hits the high banks of the Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia this Saturday night July 14th for the Motor Mile 150. Practice kicks off the day’s activities at 2pm followed by time trials at 5:30pm. After the series always popular on-track autograph session at 8:15pm, the green flag waves on high horse power super late model racing action at approximately 8:45pm.
